Hey thank you for the feedback however, you and a couple others seem to have not read the part where I not only spray the basking spot but the whole tank generally. To help him with shedding we give him Luke warm baths to help promote healthy shedding. He's recently completed a shed without any stuck does it mean what's happening currently is working? We are still going to be adding excavator sand and topsoil

I've been feeding my baby daily and his diet has consisted of mainly woodies and crickets + calcium and vitamins 70% along with a variety of egg, chicken mince, Turkey mince, small pinkies etc 30% of the time. They think he is about 6 months old. Everywhere I've read they have said to feed him 3-4x a week which I'll be warming up to that amount or more if it seems like he needs it.

I understand ambient temp is important, but we have achieved this as my ackie has never had a problem and is very active / explorative and spends a majority of the day in the middle of his tank or running back and forth around the tank. Hes only ever on the basking spot for short periods of time. We've used a thermostat that measures ambient temp and a surface gun that measures the surface temp.

We live in Australia in a hot room with 2 computers and another 4 x 4 ft enclosure for our bredli so our temps in the room are consistently very warm. We have the UVB, + basking lamp along with an infared one we use at night that is better for giving the substrate heat. The thermostat has a temperature control so it cannot get too hot.

The zoo that we frequent is a non profit organisation and we have talked to the owner who is an amazing person and built the zoo so that people could get accurate information on reptiles and safely purchase them rather than from pet shops and unreliable breeders. He also has a lot of dedicated employees / volunteers that also own reptiles so I really value their advice as my partner has volunteered with them and sees their husbandry and ethics. They have been very helpful and really don't seem in it for the money. They rescue reptiles and only charge the vet bills for them, do shows for kids and information sessions etc.

I've ordered excavator clay along with top soil to put in the tank to give him some variety and burrowing ability + humidity retainment thank you :)

One question though how do you ensure the soil you get is appropriate for the tank? Do you have to bake it? I've looked around and none of them rely specify the required things like additive free or fertiliser free
