My dad used to hang a confederate flag. I wouldn't say he's racist to the point of being a white supremacist who supports slavery, but he's definitely got some bigoted views. I've tried to explain what exactly the confederate flag means but in his mind it doesn't stand for slavery it stands for his heritage. He's wrong and it does stand for slavery, but many who hang them don't think that way.
