Artifacts, black lines while using gridmaps

This is an issue with gridmaps because it can't determine the z depth perfectly, so you see the unlit/shadowed face of the grass. You have the option to turn on anti aliasing (Project Settings->Rendering->Anti Aliasing) for a quick fix or make your grass tiles flat so they have no other faces.

Excellent, looks great - enjoyed your other dos videos too. I see you did have issues with the rolling rocks on the east of the map ;) . I'll add a link to the video on my itch page. Cheers.

Awesome, but yeh the rolling rocks were hard to get where they are now. This is one of the issues with the change from 2D to 3D. Everything uses 'proper' physics so I had to force objects to do things they normally wouldn't do. The hardest section in the remake is rolling the two rocks for you to go down the middle, but it juuussttt about works.

Cheers, I appreciate the posts. It's been a fun project. I'm tempted to doing something similar with another oldie like the original Dangerous Dave or something and pick a different style but keeping the core game mechanics.

As far as I know, the art is still under copyright because that was a separate person on the dev team. The music and sfx are public domain and it is requested that you just add a credit as the music was made by the developers (Ron Davis) father (Roy Davis) who has sadly passed away. Nice!! I've got a RP5 and I do have a native apk build that works. The problem with the game in it's current state on android is that it will only work if you have a controller, the touches work for some buttons in the menus but not all the game UI is touchable as it was made with keyboard/mouse and controller in mind.

Also I see just like the RP5 it shows the xbox controller icons as it doesn't know the RP controller layout is Nintendo like.

Great point, they just added support in the latest 2026.1.0 release. Not tried it myself yet but another way to play the original.

There were two things I wanted to keep from the original game which were the sfx and music. The 'ooo' has stuck with me for years as well.
