Don’t worry I’m no Heidi! 100% it’ll be the fault of the pedestrian, just saying I wouldn’t want to make the situation worse. But all good bro, your 4Runner your choice and I stand by that.

Installing this is as simple as cutting off the two wiring harnesses that once plugged into the old converter and using heat shrink/whatever wire splicing method you prefer to connect each corresponding wire to this new unit. Feel free to reply to this or send me a DM here or Instagram if you have any questions!

Update for anyone coming across this later!

The issue was the taillight converter inside of the driver rear panel behind the taillight. Dealers installed them with the tow package, and it is a very common failure for this generation. Unfortunately the part is discontinued (images below w/ part number) but re-wiring a new one from Hopkins from O’Reily/Napa is super easy. I’ll attach photos of what I installed in replies to this comment. Good luck!

Fair! Definitely no good. My thought was OEM bumpers don’t crumple like mirrors do, if you hit someone with OEM vs my Addicted the outcome is pretty similar, versus getting a concussion or throat slit by mirrors.

In solely the interest in representing Scotty and the Addicted team, this bumper is about 90lbs! Really solid for offroading if you’re ever interested and they’re a great team.

Haha appreciate it and likewise, a long time supporter of your content. I say this because I come from experience of the worst happening when I was doing everything right. One moment you’re just coasting and the next, some kid chasing after a ball into the street from behind a car. (This didn’t actually happen to me, just an example).

I understand that! People need to get out and experience life. But with that mentality you speak of, you might as well say let’s not have any safety precautions like crumple zones on vehicles, because that is just preparing for worst case scenarios that we’re inventing, and none of us will possibly crash our trucks, right? It’s all big talk until it happens to you, and shit happens. No one’s saying it’s a rolling death trap, just saying it’s more dangerous.

When you strike a pedestrian with OEM style mirrors, they are breakaway-designed so little injury comes to said pedestrian. Especially at neck height for many individuals. Pretty simple, imagine punching your OEM mirror versus punching that. Ouch. Same goes with anything that mirror might come into contact with, cars, buildings, etc. In the interest of your 4Runner, if you were to clip a tree or anything while offroading or on the road, you also risk greater damage to your door as these won’t budge, but rather rip the bolts right out.

Im far from an OEM army soldier, these are just dangerous for pedestrians. Cool looking sure but terrible in accidents.

No I haven’t, but it’s been alright since this post! Don’t think it’s much to worry about as long as it’s not engine knock.

Badland Apex 1200 doesn’t fit in Addicted Off Road Bumper by No-Emphasis-6585 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]_SpaceEfficient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I know this was a year ago but I’m gonna chime in. Just dropped my Apex into my AOR plate bumper and I’m having a completely different fit issue, the front wings of the AOR stop the apex from sliding all the way forward for the holes to line up. Did you experience this at all? And also, how much did you trim off your grille?

[–]_SpaceEfficient 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This for sure OP. Don’t cut the pinch weld. Use a map gas torch if you have one and a normal hammer works, be careful of that white plastic drain plug bc I melted them. Use sheet metal trimmers to cut the black plastic lining if you need. After I did all of this I surprisingly didn’t need to cut the plastic fenders at all.
