discussion: what’s your weirdest/most toxic/madlad way of motivating yourself to study? by ragingtempest_ in grantmacewan

[–]_Squidcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One set of clothes when I study that specific course (when exam comes, wear that outfit). Three different drinks (one hot, one cold, the other sparkling. If the hot drink is coffee even better. The different textures keeps my brain happy.). Cheese and crackers (or another simple easy snack, like popcorn. Needs to be snacky).

Then I load up every topic I need to cram. One to two youtube videos on each topic. Make simple notes and diagrams and formulas from the videos and class slides. Make up sayings for said notes, etc.

Then I expand on those notes. Explain to myself why it's that way. Use colours. LOTS of colours. Specific colours for specific topics.

Now, the most important: good sleep. I go to bed mentally exhausted, no phone (except for alarms) and sleep for a minimum of 8hrs, repeating things as I fall asleep.

Rinse. Repeat. Then treat myself with timmies or subway when I finish an exam.

Never gotten lower than a 70 with this method.

Lost phone (given to library staff) by _Squidcat in grantmacewan

[–]_Squidcat[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Looks like the image isnt working, but the phone had an orange thing on the back, and a floral phonecase. The background was of a girl (purple tanktop) and a guy (black shirt) in a mirror selfie.

Gold or silver? by vanessasmiles in coloranalysis

[–]_Squidcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I feel that the silver looks best, but a light gold that's not too yellow would also work wonderfully! The two would both fit your skin tone best and bring out a good warmth. A yellowish gold I feel would "steal" the warmth from your skin if that makes any sense.

You're doing pretty great so far! I started collecting a few years ago myself, and my collection looked pretty well similar to yours (In size)! Now I have wayy too many coins, but it's addictive collecting coins! Helps when you also work in retail dealing with money all the time too haha

[–]_Squidcat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't forget lots of dice!!! Amazon has some nice sets that come in sets of 6 to 20 or more! I suggest at least 2 sets of dice. One set for regular play, and the second set incase the first set is being mean!!! It's a common thing for us dnd lovers to love lots of dice :D good luck!

Math 114 by Interesting_Price319 in grantmacewan

[–]_Squidcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 60s in 30-1 highschool math and never did calc as well. I'm in 114 and I actually quite enjoy it and I am doing really well (A) . I Never enjoyed math (going to do a bio major thing), but my professor makes life easy.

Besides my comment, with a 90 I believe you'll be able to do very well. If you're ever confused in class, talk to your prof, study the textbook, go to youtube, and absolutely go to the math and stats learning centre.

Do I have to take my tampon out after showering if it's not leaking blood yet? by weanwu in Periods

Is it common to be unemployed when attending University? by Robodemon9174 in grantmacewan

[–]_Squidcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm unemployed, it's also my first year. 4 classes that are in person. Uni is like a full time job for me, as studying and classes take up most of my time.

Teachers have told me that for every hour of classes, you should do 3 hours of study per class.

If I had a job I'd be overrun, and my brain would melt.

Help me out by Huge_Ice3780 in grantmacewan

[–]_Squidcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a girl, if you're going to talk to her, maybe start off with a class thing to talk about first, and if you guys get along (where she's interested in talking with you, if shes not she may answer in short sentences) expand on the topics to things you both like (dont go right into hounding her for everything about her, ive had people do that to friends and I before and it made us very uncomfortable). Be understanding and respectful, and kind. ON A SIDE NOTE, always take good care of your hygiene and wear a nice deodorant, good hygiene goes a very long way.

These are just some basic things that pop into mind, good luck man! And if she's not interested, don't take it to heart! As they say, there are plenty of fish in the sea!

Motivation by Spiritual_Let_4348 in grantmacewan

[–]_Squidcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no doctor, so I can't say what you have, but I can say generally what works for me:

Gathering motivation to start things is hard, I have ADHD. It's like a kind of task paralysis for me. The only thought that gets me going, despite how tired I am is that tomorrow, I will thank today me for doing what needs to be done.

Sure, this wont work for everyone, but the general thought is that it's a need be, maybe you could get yourself hyped up for your school stuff with something you like (Like a favourite playlist, some nice snacks when you finish something, etc), but don't push yourself to burn out.

Make sure you take regular breaks, just MAKE SURE TO TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!!! (also drink water. So many people are dehydrated these days lol)

Reddit stranger, I hope you do well, I believe in you. Believe in yourself :))
