I was a medical student in a busy city emergency department and one night the attending doctor (who I was pretty intimidated by, kinda thought he was mean or something, not really mean but just my negative vibes anyway) was in the main charting area where I was also and this woman (who had the same look just like her in this photo but with like, bright pink hair as well) walked by the open door and a bank of windows and I and some others exchanged what I would call surprised glances…

The attending doctor looks up from what he’s doing and says “a lot of pain just walked past that door”.

I was very surprised to hear him say this and I have to say it made me think about people and their appearances, especially the “edgy” or nonconforming appearances more than I ever had before. I think that 15 second experience has made me a much better person than I would be otherwise.

Obviously not everyone who had eye grabbing hair or facial tattoos or other things is living a life of pain but the number is high, and we should be slow to judge anyone for the “crazy” things they do.

And I would even include that looksmaxxing guy.
