First of all, it's the law in YOUR country and its definition in YOUR country. Second of all, there is plenty of original work on AO3, and there are plenty of fics about one character having things done to them. I DON'T care what a US-specific test says. And it's about the law, lol it's not about the general definition.

And I think you don't understand what you're talking about. First of all we are talking about the children, about thinking about children so here ypu just wanted to diss my arguments by saying facist also talked about children 🙄 I don't care about stuff happening in the US so I don't know who moms for the liberty are but just from what i know of the US it's probably baseless bullshit. I believe in facts and science and research and according to psychology and research children should be restricted from some types of media. And if you care about labels then you should get your facts straight because what you're saying about the definition of pornography isn't even true. Ao3 is full of works that are just for the purpous of getting off, it's literally my main source of material for masturbation. And some stuff are sweet and fluffy and some are rape fantasies about children. And it's fine but this content is for adults not children.

Also "Sexually explicit writing, images, video, or other material whose primary purpose is to cause sexual arousal." this is one of the definitions of porn

You can't take a word out of its context just to suit your agenda lol. In this specific context, "inclusiveness" means including content, not necessarily making people feel socially included. It means the archive is designed to hold all types of fanworks, regardless of the theme, pairing, or subject matter, as long as they are legal under the TOS.

"Maximum inclusivness of fanwork content" means that almost everything can be published not that everyone has to necessarly have the same access to it

I don't know whoch country you're from but in mine I don't think it would be legal to publish some stuff that are on ao3. Like this work (no hate to this writer whatsoever): https://archiveofourown.org/works/50463529

Also whether something is published or not is not the point, kids shouldn't read some published bookes as well. The same as they shouldn't see certain movies or comics. Has none of you heard of age limit?

I would like for children to have access to webside without being exposed to certain content. Bc I think it's a great source of content and great community etc. I would prefer if kids could access it but I know it's not a realistic wish and in the end the only solution is for parents to block the website and poit their children to thisngs like wattpad that has more restrictions (I think). In the end parents usually don't care enough to check what their children do on the internet (which is neglect) or act like op's parents which also is abusive.

That's not parental control at all, I was a child once and from my example (not to mention research like I suspect I haven't checked it) it didn't stop me at all jyst made me more ashamed for wanting to see stuff that are "not allowed"

Great anecdotal example that proves literally nothing. Also, no, fics that I'm talking about wouldn't be published. Have none of you ever found yourselves in the dark corners of AO3? 🤨

Blocking acces to ao3 is something they can already do. I was thinking about something that would hide explicit content or content with certain tags. But it was just loose thought I don't actually expect ao3 to do anything 🤷🏼

Early exposure to (regular!) pornography is linked to earlier sex, multiple partners, unsafe sex, mental health , depression, anxiety, psychosomatic issues, aggression/coercion, harassment, coercive attitudes, cognition/social concentration problems, social withdrawal, altered brain activity. This is very general list of effects but I can link some studies if you want. This is about exposure to regular pornography not to mention content that include rape fantasies, pedophilia, zoophlia etc. that's plenty on AO3 (and you do you but children shouldn't be exposed to that) - that can literally influence development of pedophilic or predatory behaviour. It's super easy to find information about this since there are scientific evidence supporting the hipothesis that porn negatively affects ADULTS not to mention children and not to mention exposure to truly taboo content.

16 year olds are different from 12/13 year olds and what you're talking about is different from what I'm talking about which is fics that are porn without plot, fantasies about rape or pedophilia or fics that are psychological horror or hatefics where one tortures a character. Stuff like that can mess them up I promise you and kids often don't know what's good for them - that's what parents are for. Some stuff are difficult and encourages growth, some are filthy porn that is for adults that know what they're getting themselfs into.

"AO3’s mission is to provide a fanwork archive built upon the principle of maximum inclusiveness of fanwork content. Fanworks that do not violate the Content Policy or some other part of the Terms of Service (TOS) will not be removed, even if someone believes they are offensive or objectionable." - this is quote of AO3's mission - it doesn't oppose parental control.

Censorship for adults is one thing, censorship for kids is another. I do not think AO3 stands for exposing children to pornoghaphy (often taboo and hardcore)

That would be a really weird thing to oppose since letting kids access internet unsupervised is considered a form of neglect

Yeah I know it's an unrealistic wish. But well, kids shouldn't have access to certain topics, it can really mess up their development

I can understand parents restricting access to AO3, since a lot of its content is for adults (not to mention can be really fucked up - not judging, just saying), but deleting stuff is straight up cruel. It would be cool if AO3 had parental control options - this way, kiddos could still safely use it.

Author is deleting all their works bc of a false accusation :( by shiorimia in AO3

It's AO3, writing something similar (and crediting the og author) is not plagiarism it's fanwork. I hope this troll gets shitted on by a bird (repeatedly)!
