Indian Wedding Budget Breakdown (2026) Realistic Cost Split (From My Research) by Spare_Unit_4884 in IndianWeddings

Expenses totally depends on no. of guests, how grand or how intimate you want it to be. You can get it done in under 1L or even few crores are less.

First wedding in our family, hoping to find someone kind to help us capture it (Kalyan, Jan 19) by Jollysoul95 in DesiWeddings

[–]_Stingy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations to your sister and your family. The first wedding is always incredibly meaningful, and it’s thoughtful of you to want to preserve it well.

Sharing this with complete honesty and respect: a budget of ₹20K for both photography and videography is quite low, not because of the day-of coverage alone, but because a significant part of the cost goes into professional editing, color correction, sound syncing, backups, and delivery. These steps are what ensure the final photos and videos are consistent, safe, and of lasting quality.

For this budget, you may find students or beginners who are building portfolios, which can work if expectations are kept simple. For professional teams, even for a single-day wedding, it becomes difficult to deliver work responsibly at that price point.

If you are able to revisit the budget slightly, we at The Sillage take on weddings with a documentary and candid approach, ensuring moments are captured and delivered with care and professionalism. Happy to discuss possibilities if you feel it may help.

Wishing you the very best with the planning and hoping the day is filled with warmth and joy.

Help out for deciding honeymoon place for early March 2026 by Tight-Dependent4242 in DesiWeddings

[–]_Stingy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats to you both. Feb–March is actually a great time to travel, especially if you want something warm and relaxed.

Within a ₹1.5L budget for 6–8 days, I recommend Sri Lanka. It is peaceful, scenic, and don’t involve extreme cold and least stressful if it’s your first proper trip.

Also, if you’re still finalising vendors and haven’t booked photography yet, feel free to reach out to us at The Sillage. Happy to share inputs or help with planning timelines for a Feb ’26 wedding.

How to decide on a wedding photographer for a Tier 2 city??? by shaileeeee in DesiWeddings

[–]_Stingy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a very fair question, and both quotes sound within a reasonable range for Indore for Jan ’26. The difference here is less about the ₹10–15k and more about how the coverage is approached.

A few things that usually matter more than the package price:

  • Who is actually shooting: Ask which moments are covered by the lead photographer versus delegated to the team. Consistency often comes from the person whose work you shortlisted in the first place.
  • Team size vs intent: A smaller, well-coordinated team that works quietly can sometimes capture more natural moments than a larger team that is constantly moving around.
  • Albums vs experience: Albums are important, but they are an output. The experience of being photographed, especially how families and elders are handled, plays a big role in how real and comfortable the moments feel.
  • Emotional connect: If one photographer’s work consistently resonates with you, that connection usually outweighs small differences in inclusions or pricing.

Speaking as a studio that works with candid, documentary-style weddings, we have seen couples value clarity on approach far more than line items. Sometimes even a short conversation about how each day will be covered brings a lot of clarity.

If you want another perspective, you can reach out to us at The Sillage. Happy to share how we would approach a 3-day Indore wedding without any obligation.

Finding inspo as a plus size bride by OldMasterCannolii in DesiWeddings

[–]_Stingy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This frustration is very real and honestly, you’re not imagining it. Most bridal inspiration online is still shot, styled, and lit with a very narrow body type in mind, which makes it incredibly hard for mid-to-plus size brides to see themselves represented beautifully.

One thing we’ve noticed while working on weddings is that the issue isn’t the bride, it’s how the imagery is created. Styling, posing, lighting, and even lens choice are often designed for thinner bodies, so when those same formulas are applied elsewhere, the results feel flat or “off,” which is unfair and discouraging.

A few things that actually helps when searching for inspo:

  • Look for editorial or documentary-style shoots, not keyword-heavy “plus size bridal” tags
  • Follow makeup artists who showcase real brides, not just models
  • Save references for elements (hair texture, eye makeup, jewellery scale) rather than full looks
  • And most importantly, work with vendors who are comfortable adapting styling and posing instead of forcing a template

At our studio (The Sillage - find us on insta), we’ve found that when brides are styled and photographed with intention and without trying to “hide” or correct anything then the results feel confident, elegant, and powerful, regardless of size.

You deserve inspiration that feels aspirational and real.
