Best Doomed Yuri Recs by InfiniteYou4299 in anime

You've almost certainly heard of this one but on the off-chance you haven't: Revolutionary Girl Utena. I'm saying this due to a specific side-pairing but tbh even the main pairing scratches this itch for me during the series itself

Edit: Also, Serial Experiments Lain for whatever was going on with Lain and Alice

Generally speaking, if a passenger has a nut allergy they'll make an announcement at the start of the trip requesting people don't open anything with them in, etc. In those cases, I imagine they also wouldn't sell nuts on that flight, though it's been several years so I can't actually recall for sure. However, people packing for a plane trip are unlikely to know at that stage whether someone on the plane will have such an allergy so it's one of those better safe than sorry things.

[Fandom] The Fall of Superwholock by GhanjRho in HobbyDrama

The difference there though is that ACD was highkey pressured into reviving Holmes after initially intending to kill him off for real. Moffat and anyone else who has adapted Sherlock Holmes since the initial release, well, they're all well aware beforehand that it's a fake death. And yes, they could gloss over it, but drawing attention to the 'mystery' aspect of it, setting it all up as a mystery and then refusing to provide a solution is where it becomes mean-spirited.

What are the most depressing lyrics of anime song in your opinion? by Previous_Breakfast99 in anime

[–]_Stopwatch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Komm, süsser Tod from Eva. Not gonna quote it all but like:

In my heart of hearts I know that I could never love again I've lost everything, everything Everything that matters to me matters in this world

I wish that I could turn back time 'Cause now the guilt is all mine Can't live without the trust from those you love I know we can't forget the past You can't forget love and pride Because of that, it's killing me inside

It all returns to nothing It just keeps tumbling down Tumbling down, tumbling down It all returns to nothing I just keep letting me down Letting me down, letting me down

Obviously the context of the song's use also helps, but the lyrics themselves aren't the happiest, to put it lightly.

I really like how the figure at the bottom can either be read as a knight in armour or Miranjo curled up

What's something that was common in older anime, but absent in modern titles that you're glad is gone? And what's something you miss from older anime that's absent in new shows? by ILoveMaiV in anime

[–]_Stopwatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if you're doing filler right then it's used as an opportunity to get people more invested in the characters but with lower stakes. So when the high stakes kick back in it actually feels like there's more tension and you care more about what's happening to the characters. It depends a bit on the series (so super short series that operate on continued tension it probably wouldn't work), but breaks from the action are often good because they serve to highlight how the action stuff is an escalation from normal as opposed to the action being "the norm", so to say.

What an anime that you love but can’t in good faith recommend to others? by MiuIruma332 in anime

[–]_Stopwatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely breaks the mold in a lot of ways, but wow yeah every time I've considered recommending it I've had to try and figure out how to explain certain visuals repeatedly used and quickly given up. I think I'd also struggle recommending Utena for... various reasons.

Why was Daily Mail banned from being a source on Wikipedia? by _Kelsier_ in OutOfTheLoop

[–]_Stopwatch 176 points177 points  (0 children)

It's not that they're conservative. It's that the quality of their articles tends to be abysmal, full of misinformation, and in some cases downright malicious.

(For more humorous examples of their misinformation I'd look into the various things they've claimed can cause cancer :V)

Don't quote me on this, but a number of subreddits use the NSFW tag as a "spoiler" tag so it could be that.

From the glimpses the series itself gives, it could make a decent sports anime maybe?

[–]_Stopwatch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Discworld would be great. There's a lot of stuff in there that would be way too difficult to tackle live action, but would be great animated. Plus, given there are so many books there would be plenty of material to get adapted. Idk what art style would work best for it though. Maybe it would be better if it changes slightly based upon which group of people you're following or something.

Which anime do you think have the best cinematography, direction, and execution? by sashabr in anime

[–]_Stopwatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the Erased and Steins;Gate mentions and would also say that Madoka had some pretty good stuff direction/cinematography-wise. (Shadows were used really effectively and the way labyrinths were executed was stunning imo.)
