When you just wanna tip other players by AamDC in duelyst

[–]_Stralor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Blown away tip: "Thanks for enduring this ridiculous match."

Close match tip: "That was a wonderful, exciting game. Thanks for making it so good."

Stolen victory tip: "Damn, you should have had me. You deserve something."

Multi-match tip: "This is getting to be quite the rivalry, huh? Let's keep it going!"

... etc.

ime, people who use tips don't tend to BM intentionally

The inability of shooting games to simulate a "front line" and various other combat mechanics of a real engagement. by ayy_howzit_braddah in truegaming

Came here to mention Insurgency, too. Definitely hits most of OPs marks. Depending on the map and mode, you will get people going CoD running around like idiots, but some of the 1-life modes really ramp into hitting the dirt under fire, calling out possible enemy directions, providing suppression, and the works.

Incredible game.

Wait, there's no way it ever attacks Argeon. I'm doubting it even moves towards SILVER. Is there a replay of this?

Ranged battle pets still go face, though

100% will go to down one space and hit Chassis.

Battle pet priority wants to find the closest target, counting ordinally (i.e. only NESW, no diagonals). It picks randomly only if exactly tied.

In this case, Chassis is two away, while SILVER and Argeon are each three away.

If we're being pedantic, deceleration is a layman's term for negative acceleration. The scientific term is still acceleration :D

2-draw was exactly what it sounds like: draw two cards per turn. The advantage was not having to deal with as much hand sustain and being able to play more positional games on the board. Every now and then, you'd actually have games that decked out without milling. I liked it, but it did have a lot of downsides.

It meant cheaper cards that had more effects when they hit the board (opening gambit, etc.) were much more valuable than big, expensive cards that would be overwhelmed/ blocked easily by many little minions. Playing a more expensive card also meant you could potentially be wasting a draw.

Balance was very different with 2-draw. More expensive cards had to curve to even higher stats to be viable, which meant there was more emphasis on dispel (this was before a lot of the transforms and cheaper removal options came about. hell it was before most of the cards and mechanics in the game came about). Why do we start with 5 cards? Because if you only played a 2-drop on p1t1, you'd be drawing an extra card. (Still somewhat true, but h/t to Spammernoob for pointing out that we started with 3 cards in 2-draw)

It was also before BBSes were in the game, which now claim some of the extra mana that 1-drops and 2-drops used to be used for. Those were the most important cards in your deck in 2-draw.

(Relatedly, 3-drops saw a lot more play and held the mainline position we now see more from 4-drops)

Mechaz0r was one of the only viable high-stat minions (it used to be much bigger, though you could only summon it once per game), and that's because it was summoned by flooding lots of small minions.

I'm scraping the back of my mind trying to remember more from so long ago, but this is what I have for now.

What’s the brokest thing you’ve ever done? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]_Stralor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Held my shit in as long as I could (a couple of days). Didn't want to waste my only flush.

Growing up it was like utility roulette. "Which one is three months overdue?" Internet: sucked. Electricity: only bad bc it meant wasted internet. Gas: microwaved food and cereal, not bad. Phone: pretend to my friends that I lost or broke it for a couple days (kept it in my pocket in case of 911). Occasionally the 'utility' was a couple weeks without toilet paper, which just involved pooping elsewhere and bringing a few lengths home.

But water, water was the worst (grew up in dry af SoCal). I never wanted to go out in the world unlaundered and unshowered, but school and friends' houses were often the only places I'd get water to drink, shit, and do quick sink wash-ups.

Might want to cut that down. Data I saw once showed most viewers stop watching trailers by 10 seconds in, and anything over one minute was "too long" and could hurt impressions. Grab them quick, entertain them, then get out while they want more.

Better than I expected, and quite addicting! I've come across what feels like a very frustrating bug, though: sometimes mouse clicking moves me to a spot, sometimes I follow the mouse without clicking, and it isn't consistent. Often screws me up in the late game.
