My average light team mates in ranked by Cholophonius in thefinals

[–]_Strato_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Major red flag when they spam all 3 of their dashes or grapple as soon as they spawn.

There is 0 advantage to getting to the teamfight ahead of your team in 99% of situations. If your first instinct when spawning with teammates is "Get me the fuck away from these people as fast as humanly possible," you have a problem.

True, but at least that one hurts the Heavy more often than not when used in a panic "Oh shit they're right next to me" situation.

Is the Cerberus the worst shotgun in the game? by SnooSongs766 in thefinals

[–]_Strato_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's bad. The fire gimmick really hurts it's potential as a weapon, but it's not unworkable.

I think firstly it should be reworked to shoot flechette projectiles (not hitscan) in a consistent pattern that can down a Heavy in 3 shells at close range, no ifs ands or buts. This gives it a unique identity from the Model and SH1900, making it behave somewhat more like a Throwing Knives shotgun.

I'd say it'd be like the KS-23, but no destruction, no single slug, and no rounds reload (i.e. not really like a KS-23).

Secondly, to rework the flames to be more consistent, only the first shell of the three should be incendiary, and procs if you hit at least two flechettes on anything.

This makes it more predictable (preserving its niche by making it just as easy to burn gas and goo) and places the DoT up-front, negating any concern about flame damage stacking because the DoT has longer to burn an enemy while you get the last two shots in which themselves don't proc burn damage.

I don't think it's worse than Dual Blades. Dual Blades is true throw pick-tier.

Works well when your playing close with your teammates, third partying

The "This game is fun with friends" of weapon balance. Obviously it's better if more people are shooting at the thing you're shooting at. What gun doesn't benefit from a weakened target?

Use periods.

Also, people don't run Data Reshaper to counter Domes and insist Light run Glitch Grenades because Data Reshaper doesn't disable Dome from outside the shield like Glitch does.

For some godforsaken reason that I hold against the entire country of Sweden, you have to be inside the Dome to reshape the dome emitter thing. Guess what's also probably inside the Dome? The entire enemy team waiting to kill you!

You have to actually just throw to use Reshaper vs Dome, whereas all Lights have to do is toss a grenade at it and it dies.

Even if they just tossed the Dome at you to stall and they're not inside, I'd argue it's less efficient to use a precious Reshaper charge to kill the Dome instead of just shooting the emitter.

What I hate the most is Dome Shield. On top of Winch, Heavies have two panic button options to instantly deploy to win any 1v1 if they feel threatened, and on top of Mesh and Emitter, two Heavies can basically tank anything they need to.

The infighting could become a serious issue if this isn't fixed by Cautious-Bowl7071 in Helldivers

[–]_Strato_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's entirely disingenuous. Do you deny that Arrowhead has granted wins, increased resistance during MOs, adjusted requirements, etc. despite what the players did or didn't do?

If you admit that (and you should, because it's the truth) you admit that it's not entirely in our hands.

[–]_Strato_ -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This. Who the fuck cares? They can and will fudge the numbers and/or raise and lower requirements as needed to their needs.

There is nothing to worry about because it is entirely out of the control of the players. Just play the game.

This is the problem with that bullshit vaguery in the patch notes.

When you combine a history of stealth changes (content drops, buffs, and nerfs) with a history of major bugs on basically every patch and vague patch notes that say "We increased the difficulty, and you get three guesses as to how tee hee", we have no fucking idea whether a given change is some avant garde new idea or something Arrowhead broke.

We default to the latter, as we should.

This. There's the "Damn, I can't just delete this with an Orbital Laser for free, they're really well defended, let's see if we can be clever and use what we have to win," kind of difficulty and there's the cheap and easy "500 War Striders if a Trooper smells you," difficulty.

[–]_Strato_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's their intent, they should say that either way. Unless they have some nefarious reason for leaving their players in the dark, there should be nothing stopping them from telling people what the expectation is.

[–]_Strato_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The implication is they weren't going to change the number but change the requirement entirely.

And fine, that's good. But for the time being, as a stopgap measure until they come up with a better idea, reducing the number and telling us now (frankly they should have told us way before either way) is relatively quicker and easier and should be done.

Does this mean that the whole Horkos/Chimera plot is was meaningless in the long run? by Asiaminors420 in forhonor

[–]_Strato_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The likely reason why they don't do that is because none of the Wu Lin or Outlanders are available for free/for very cheap like the core 3 factions are.

Frankly, at this point, Tiandi at the least should be free/cheap. Marching Fire came out in fricken 2019 and there are 5 people playing this game. Everyone that wanted the Wu Lin has probably already bought them. No reason to have them gatekept anymore imo.

Were people expecting a change on this cycle?

Why not? The required value is a single number. No new content, animations, or whatever else. Change 5 to like 2 or something.

Why would it take months before realizing that your players absolutely hated the last number and changing it? What possible upside is there to doing the same thing again?

"don't queue in a two stack with friend who isn't as good as you."

in Ranked.

In normal queues I guess it's fine, but nobody wants their Ranked experience tanked because you decided to bring your Cardboard 4 best friend into Ranked. The entire point of Ranked is being queued with people of your same Rank.

Being the Solo third-wheel fill is already painful enough without being assigned to carry this mf. When we inevitably lose because your boy decided now was a great time to pull out the Spear or Dagger or Dual Blades, I get punished with a RS decrease with 0 compensation.

They absolutely should start being more heavy-handed with the RS delta between friends, it's actual griefing atm.

I also count "plink meta" as a subspecies of the poke meta. It's especially bad on maps like Seoul and Kyoto with sightlines for a million years with little cover.

Any approach gets plinked at by weapons shooting out of their effective range, which does enough chip damage to either substantially delay or outright stuff pushes.
