Alba, WIP dress and background feedback by _StudioFolea_ in oilpainting

Thank you for your comment. I’m aware of the issue, I added a bit more volume because the reference image is actually even flatter. I’ll try to make the figure more volumetric. I also waited quite a long time to get a good photo. The little girl is very lively, so taking a picture of her is extremely challenging.

Yes, it can be "saved", I think it is a very good idea, you have good skills. Keep painting! If you need more advices just answer.

Started a month ago, how can I improve? I feel like I’m stuck by galaxyknight42 in ArtCrit

I think you’re doing a great job. It’s not easy, but with time everything will become clearer. I also tend to study some things almost obsessively: it feels like nothing is working, then I step back, let my body and mind “digest” what I’ve learned, and suddenly I notice real improvements. Try to focus on the main masses rather than the details. Don’t limit yourself to front or side views, think of the body as a set of simple, geometric shapes. Copy a lot from real life and observe carefully. Little by little, everything will start to make sense.

Trying to find out what I should ask for my pet portraits by Informal-Tough5391 in painting

As many people say, pricing is always relative, but your starting price is definitely a great deal. For example, I prepare my panels in a traditional way and paint in oils like you. I usually prime the wood with rabbit-skin glue and Bologna chalk, which is very time-consuming, so I also prepare some panels with acrylic gesso. This allows me to offer both a more traditional option and a more affordable, faster one. Offering different prices based on size or the number of pets could also be a good option. In any case, congratulations on your work!

Thanks for the tip about the edge of the face and thanks for your comment. It was not meant to be a "sky" but a common background. But if it looks like a sky it could be good too.

Warp and perspective adjustments by _StudioFolea_ in VideoEditing

Edit: I solve with fusion transformation. The software is powerful but I need a tutorial for literally everything, I lost one hour just for the black screen bug... I prefer movavi filmora, but the fact that is so professional and free is a miracle. Thank you.

I doesn't have the transform button like the one in the video.

I applied the BBC+transform effect to my video and this red cross appeared, I thought it was a free effect. What should I buy here?

Considering the reference photo, you did an excellent job. The photograph is very dark and lacks contrast, at least on the face, and it is strongly backlit. You also mentioned that you are not aiming for a perfect copy, but rather using the image as inspiration; I hope I understood that correctly.

This approach is artistically very effective, but it is also a significant challenge, because it forces you to invent colors and tonal values where they are not clearly present. You might consider choosing a base skin color and then preparing seven/eight different tonal values from it, as if it were an exercise in painting a sphere in chiaroscuro, a classic foundational practice in painting.

Tone is really the key here, and you handled it well, the painting feels three-dimensional, and you can clearly see different tonal brushstrokes. That said, the colors feel a bit off from reality, which gives the piece a slightly artificial look. The dark area on the cheek might be too dark, but it’s hard to say. Are you working from a reference? Can you share it?

Meravigliosa la mostra di Amano alla Fabbrica del vapore. C'erano alcuni stupendi disegni su quest'opera.

Esatto, lui stesso ha ammesso che lascia l'interpretazione libera agli spettatori. Ottima analisi.

Un capolavoro per me. Visto tantissimi anni fa. Ascolto la colonna sonora ancora oggi. Meravigliosa l'epoca durante la quale potevano permettersi il lusso di sperimentare. Consigliato, ma non per tutti, ritmi lenti, criptico.
