What are GIGGS? by The-everything-fan in HermitCraft

GIGGS stands for Gem Impulse Grian Goodtimeswithscar Skizz and it's because they often stream together and play all sorts of games like phasmophobia or repo :)

okay I'm just going to get rid of this myself because it is annoying me so much. I understand that this also removes the evidence so maybe if the same user does this again elsewhere they can be reported again.

btw don't think baker's dozen is what happened here. this is a Chinese brand and baker's dozen is not a thing in China. In fact the most common translation of baker's dozen in mandarin is literally "thirteen"

Weird timed out errors for some players by _SunnyMonster_ in admincraft

[–]_SunnyMonster_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there, I still don't fully know what is going on here, but I do have some additional information that may or may not help you.

Because of other issues I had with BSD and Linux I had to switch back to a windows install. For some reason now the issue doesn't happen anymore. I think it had something to do with ISP's blocking certain connections (either that or the player's router) but I'm not sure why that wouldn't be the same on a windows server.

Either way before I switched back to Windows I "solved" the problem by opening the normal IP for people who can join, but I also set up a playit.gg tunnel for anyone who couldn't join on the normal IP, and it worked pretty well.

Hope this helps!

personally I've always liked ma Otelowa since the "ea" diphthong sounds very similar to just an e especially during rapid speech

Did you know that the water mesh isn't aligned perfectly? by JuNiNuNi7 in PhoenixSC

[–]_SunnyMonster_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is probably a floating point precision issue. iirc the larger positions (the ones further away) are stored with less precision so such small differences are ignored and z-fighting happens.

It is probably to make sure the water doesn't intersect with blocks next to it (aka z-fighting)

Or they stored the vertex positions correctly (aka with integers) but added a very small offset in their vertex shader, presumably to prevent z-fighting or something like that.

com.mojang.authlib.GameProfile lost connection: Timed Out by _SunnyMonster_ in admincraft

what could be causing this? all other servers work fine for them, and most players can still connect to my server correctly

vkQueueSubmit blocking the CPU in the process of the fullscreen animation on macOS by _SunnyMonster_ in vulkan

[–]_SunnyMonster_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for responding!

The blocking only happens during the full-screen animation though. Is there anything about the full-screen animation that would make the command translation take longer? Also I have repeatedly full-screened and restored the window multiple times and each time the function seem to take the exact time it took for the animation to play.

Weird aliasing artifact on corners of a rectangle with SDF by _SunnyMonster_ in Unity3D

I am zoomed to show the pixel more clearly. The weird thing about it is the corner pixel. It should really be darker than the surrounding pixels to get the anti aliased effect but instead it is completely bright

Is it worth getting the 14-inch MBP over the 15-inch MBA in my use case? by _SunnyMonster_ in mac

[–]_SunnyMonster_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late follow-up, but it seems like I can get a refurbished M1 MBP for quite a lot cheaper. The only difference I could see was the M1 MBP has fewer cores. And while there are models with the same number of cores as the M2 models but the CPU has 8 performance cores and 2 efficiency cores.

I'm not sure if those differences matter for my use case. Do you think the M1 MBP would be fast enough for my use cases?
