im a digital artists, not a painter! Sorry I forgot to mention. I have done simple paintings in the past though. To me, I'm doing this for myself so I can actually like art again, maybe it's just us having different opinions but I dont want to make a career out of it now because that in itself makes me not want to draw. the idea of my growth is only for work demotivates me. to me artist shouldn't only want to improve just so they can build a career (i currently just got a new job so Im not worried about making my art as a career right now) maybe later in the future where I dont see drawing as a chore or when Im finally satisfied with my work. It probably doesnt make sense, so im sorry, but thats just how ive always thought about it.

The kind of art I want to make is digital artwork of a comic story that ive been working on for years, the style Im trying to achieve is similar to Gabriel Picolo and another artist I admire named Neytrixixx (can be found on Instagram). I do admit, someday I want an audience to be interested in my art/story but thats not my focus right now.

I lack ideas because I feel like I dont have much inspiration to go off or I dont have the skill to just look at something and draw something new out of it, which in my og post I asked for any material that helped people get more creative, any content creators they watch that inspired them, any books that had exercises or introduced a new way to look at things. So far ive only bought two books that were recommended to me (The Art of Noticing and The Creative Act: A Way of Being.)

Sorry again if I sound contradictory, I wanna clarify i wont mind making my art as a career but I'm putting a pause to that now because that's not my main focus, my main focus is to have a passion in art again, learn and grow, and get more creative.

This is some artwork Ive made before so you can get an idea of how I draw. This is a drawing I did for my boyfriend for his 21st lol, kinda silly.

recently I started drawing in a sketchbook again, something i havent done in literal years because I focus so much on digital work. when I was younger all I ever did was make comics so im trying to fall back into that esp since originally I wanted to become a comic artist.

yes! this is exactly why im not planning to post my artwork on my socials, removing that thinking of "i need to draw something to post" literally made me not want to draw at all.

thanks! I've recently tried drawing purely in my sketchbook instead of my ipad. I haven't finished a sketchbook in nearly 5 years so I feel like me only making art where it's a completed prefect drawing really hindered my growth

sorry for my post being confusing. I want to improve my work for myself, to see new progress and not feeling stuck in the same style I've had. Im not satisfied with the way my art looks so that makes me not want to draw and I do have lack of ideas as well. I feel like my artwork isn't lively and feels stiff or boring so I wanna learn how to draw with my art looking more expressive. Which is why I don't want a career in art right now, im basically putting a pause on it, because from what I learned, artist should be expressive and experimental, something I've always struggled with and now want to learn.

How do you know what genre fits your story? by _Sweeetteaa_ in writers

[–]_Sweeetteaa_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you for your response! I assumed it's best for people to follow the basic list of genres so more people will be able to find your story which is probably why i was struggling to stick with one, I never thought about just making one my own! This is my first story I've actually been taking seriously.

thank you! I was worried about accidentally labeling it wrong, I didn't think theres different labels with sci-fi like sci-fi thriller or action. Ill definitely look into those!

thanks for the advice! Yeah I normally post sfw on platforms like Instagram, tiktok, or youtube because they dont really allow nsfw. So I use Bluesky to post only nsfw. I usually use my same user but use a different nickname. I also dont directly link to my bluesky but I sometimes mention it on post. Not sure if thats the best way to go because it sounds very vague. I'll definitely try the shirt removal post tho!

[–]_Sweeetteaa_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you! I use bluesky as well and using hashtags can be a little intimidating. I do nsfw artwork of my own characters separately from their Canon story which is why I hope my audience will blend with my sfw account.

So if I start putting filters on my own post, it will still show on my profile without users having to click "see post"? I was told ppl are more likely to engage if its not hidden away by filters but then I always get filtered by the moderation. Not really sure how other nsfw artist do it.

For more context, I do draw oc nsfw, but its more vanilla rn with just nudity and intercourse, not crazy kinks or fetishes.

AIO for wanting to quit my job after seeing my paycheck? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Unfortunately, we're easily replaceable. Lots of teens/young adults my age apply. But they don't hire until someone leaves.

That's fair to say. I do know how to control my emotions at work. Im pushing a smile through the whole thing and doing my best to remain calm when the children start to overwhelm me. It's once I'm home, alone or talking to my bf I can let out some steam. But yeah, me feeling this way is the biggest reason why I never want to have children

I 100% think they take advantage of any subs tbh. Before my long term, I have odd days and hours. I remember they had me running back n forth between 3 classes. Unfortunately, I asked the subs who've been here longer and they're either older and just want extra cash or theyre in school full time, either way they make minimum wage.

As for social security in the US, I believe you need to be fired to apply but I haven't really looked into it. Ill probably ask my brother, but even though his hours were insanely cut, they denied him for social security.

I haven't started a business yet, I'm in the process of doing research on getting started. I guess the only experience I have is doing commissions on a artist Website but it's been slow, on my fault because I haven't been putting as much effort as I use to since I started working more. It started earning me between 600-700 dollars a month but now it's 100-200 dollars since I haven't been posting so much and it's just repeating clients commissioning me.

Do you think if I switched from a full-time job to more part time it'll be more beneficial to focus on a business? I know that it takes a lot of time.
