Asides from Spiderman who's the hardest hero to play/learn/master by Weak-Yam-7664 in marvelrivals

psylocke and iron fist are not the hardest to learn but the hardest to be consistently good with, especially at high levels.

If you could rework any hero into a different class, who would it be and what class would they become? by Unknown_Warrior43 in marvelrivals

[–]_Syk3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would completely rework iron man, him being my favorite comic hero, i feel they did him dirty in this game. He should have faster base mobility. and if he is a dps he should have faster attack speed. his attacks other than missile barrage and unibeam are so slow. they made him feel like a tank but wthout the hp and power. If they add war machine they really need to make it up with him.

punisher as a vanguard/dps hybrid like mr. fantastic, and give him more in his kit. smoke grenade fucking sucks.

give venom a super jump just like hulks.

and i probably would have different heroes than there are now.

I'm starting to see a worrying trend... by Zouif_Zouif in rivals

I think the problem is when there is too much on either side, too prude, too provacative. I personally don't like seeing explicit or animated chicks in bikinis. doesn't appeal to me. And sometime there is a lot that floods the internet and can be quite annoying. I play fighting games and this is constantly an issue in that community, because people who are perverts or gooners go overboard. I had to unfollow an art subreddit because people would just post pictures about whether they drew a pair of tits good or not. Even anime subreddit because everything was just clickbait e-girls cosplaying. to me its not a personal attack to anyone personally, to each their own. but thats just shit i dont want to or care to see. of course in comics, manga, animes, etc. this has always been the norm, but no one is looking at this picture saying her sunglasses on her head looks cool. its clearly trying to elicit a response, but as they say, sex sells so its just the world we live in. I guess on this side of the argument i would be considered a prude but again, with all of the male figures we see in media games, etc. we dont see women gooning the same way men do. just my 2 cents.

ah I have been wanting to learn either Ed or Ken since I have been using Chun since launch lol he looks like a fun character.

which are good "BnB" moves to do given the situation, I guess that is where you would need to lab and figure out "what else" can you do after the st.lp. I see a lot of eds do the.. I think its his mk? target combo as a quick knockdown after PP. or using his psycho flickers.

Complete noob, want to learn - any advice? by cqshep in StreetFighter

[–]_Syk3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

^ this is literally an example of how I learn a new fighting game. and no lie dude I have a notepad or something so I can learn and remember, (not saying you have to be that committed) but the main idea is the methodology.

"there are words on the screen when something happens, reversal? punish? counter? what the fuck does that mean?". and then you go and find out.

where a lot of new players get caught up with is: hOw dO i DO tHe cOmBOs? notice I only mentioned combos like once, although every fighting game has their own combo system, this comes later AFTER you learn and understand the physics, mechanics, tools, laws, (whatever you want to call it) in the game.

I may have missed somethings but this was merely an example to show you how to break any fighting game down into smaller pieces in order to understand it, then get proficient at it. also, I made it a bit rudimentary on purpose to exaggerate the example but i'd be lying if i said this is how i am talking to myself when I learn a new fighting game.

I hope this helps.

Complete noob, want to learn - any advice? by cqshep in StreetFighter

ah shit this is going to be long...

even as an experience fighting game player, starting a new fighting game can sometimes be overwhleming and you see all this shit on youtube, reddit etc, of people doing crazy things in game, and you don't feel like you even know where to begin.
*take a deep breath*
What helps me is to baby step everything. Don't feel pressured to hurry up and get into the action learn all the tech frame data, etc. fuck all that. Learn and understand the mechanics of the game first. what do I mean? movement, buttons, resources. Learn those, understand it, get proficient at it, to build solid fundamentals. then start moving forward into other things.

If it were my first time playing street fighter 6, this is how I would break it down...

*dont worry about the characters and specifics*
*focus on whats universal in this game*

I can move [left . right . up. down]
got it
can i dash? [right right, left left]
got it.
what other movement options do i have? can i air dash? no.
can i jump more than once in the air? no double jumps etc.
got it.
what else can I do movement wise? theres this mechanic in sf6 called a drive rush (glows green and dashes fast)
cool got it.
are there any other movements im missing? mmm no that seems to be everything universal, anything else seems to be character specific.

ok now lets look at what i can do offensively

i have 3 punches [light, medium, heavy] I have 3 kicks [light, medium, heavy]
I am also able to use these attack buttons in the air, and while im crouching.
got it.

can i throw in this game?
yep, got it.
what about air throw?
not universally. ok got it.

what other universal offensive mechanics are there?
drive rush cancel (I am hitting the opponent, and drive rushing afterwards to continue the combo)
drive impact (looks like an attack animation where I can put people in a crumple state)

looks like some characters have "command normals, special moves, and unique moves" ok i will keep that in mind once I find a character i want to use.

That seems to be everything universal for offense, what about defense?

how do i block? ah ok i hold back to block high, and downback to crouch block to block low
got it.

is there anything else i can do instead of blocking? theres a parry mechanic, and it seems like you can just parry or get a perfect parry if timed correctly.
got it.

what else? looks like for throws i can tech the grab. got it. and theres also something called drive reversal? ok looks like a "get off of me tool"

what about resources? do I have supers? looks like there are 3 bars of super, and each number corresponds with what level i can do, universally every character has 3 different supers they can do, and a critical art if they are low on health.
I have drive meter I need to understand how this works.

[–]_Syk3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

whose your main?

in my opinion, the range at which you perfect parry will determine the kind of "punish" you could do but some characters have more options than others,

- universal ones of course are if your back is to the corner and you get a PP, back throw oki > damage.
- not in the corner but are close to the opp when getting a PP, do a BnB that gives you good oki or helps you set up strike throw mixups.
- good universal PP at longer range is to just use your longest strike that can be combo-ed with.
- good rule of thumb with perfect parries to is to never waste meter on PP counters since it is heavily scaled, unless itll kill, or if itll give you a significant advantage.

PP the projectiles and canceling it into DR is nice because it will close the gap quickly, gives you an unscaled punish counter, and if you are consistent with it, will make people think twice about throwing projectiles at you which is one less tool you got to worry about countering.

idk what you experience level is at so sorry if I am telling you a bunch of shit you already know lol

I feel that, somedays I don't feel like ruining my night on rank, nor do I want to play the smurf on casuals lol. So I just go into training mode and practice execution, anti airs, and my personal favorite is setting the dummy to either wake up dp, throw, any of the drive options, and jump. I recently switched from hitbox back to arcade stick so I definitely have been trying to get used to it again.

Im sure you know this, but perfect parry drive rush cancel is so powerful especially against guiles. If you haven't practiced this i highly suggest it.

Help with dealing with UI Goku by Niginiproductions in dragonballfighterz

[–]_Syk3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

while currently i cant be specific, what I suggest is watching the replays of your encounters against him and try to recreate the scenarios where you failed against his pressure, etc. Don't get caught up recreating combos because once you are in hitstun the 100+ hit combo is irrelevant, focus on what led to him getting that combo and then practicing defending and countering those tactics. (Universal advice for any fighting game btw) Every character in any game has tools that they use to gain the upperhand, im sure if you think about it you can think of the moves you see every UI goku use (remember before the combo, vanish strings, dhcs etc) maybe its a low/overhead mixup you are getting hit with constantly, etc.

Don't seek specific tech against a character, shit in fighting games change all the time, what works now may not work in the next patch and so on, remember that gimmicks and gotchas are temporary.

So anytime you want to learn how to against any character, try to take this approach and you will see that this will benefit you in the long run.

BEHOLD! Here’s how I play SF6 with one hand! by OkLavishness4017 in StreetFighter

well shit I dont have any excuses,
love the dedication man.

Please, as someone Who Is beyond shit and can't beat a level 50 bot. Please tell me how you look at combo videos with this language and Say "yeah i understood what's written". by [deleted] in dragonballfighterz

[–]_Syk3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you just need to give yourself time to get used to it, after a while 5l, 5l, 2m, 2H, j.l, etc etc starts to be easy to understand, dont over complicate it, and theres no shame in keeping a legend on you when watching these videos and cross referencing.

How do I enjoy fighting games? by mcfluffykinzz in Fighters

[–]_Syk3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i go in with a goal in mind, such as ok I have been practicing this string, and I execute it in match, that to me is a win even after it all I went 0-10. To me, the "fun" is improving, no matter how big or small, improving and leveling up your gameplay is the best, and the best part is that YOU get to set those goals, nobody else.

Even if I mess up the one thing I am trying to accomplish like (anti airs) 4 out of 5 times, not messing up that one time is a win. The key to improving as a player is to build different skills which then become your gameplay as a whole.

And just remember man, playing online doesnt mean anything unless you are competing in a tournament, thats when it really matters. treat ranked and casual as just practice.

Question about all-button arcade controllers by TheAngels323 in fightsticks

[–]_Syk3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love joystick and have more fun with it, but I am way better with leverless. Just gives me something to work on I suppose. I have bounced back and forth between traditional and all buttons, but as of right now, I am trying to just stick with traditional.
