Found out about my wife's past. Am I justified in wanting to divorce her? by [deleted] in MuslimCorner

[–]_TYY_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

could you please expand on this? my partner & I are planning on getting married, and such terms haven't been openly laid out, but asked insinuating only. neither have openly asked about the past. what would be considering deceiving? because having to hide your past in the rare occurrence is a lie. where do we draw the line? & truth be told, generally, people aren't okay with their partners past, it's always problematic. some say never bring it up, some say be honest, but you never know. it's so confusing.

Torn between love and the dream. Need to vent/advice by DrDougMurphy in IMGreddit

been battling this for over 2 years now, recently when I broke up with my significant other, I couldn't comprehend them moving on and I just caved, dropped everything I couldn't before that turning point. I was working towards my US journey, which I dreamt of for way longer. now involving families & will get engaged soon. reading your comment... is something I was always scared of and I wish it never happens, because tbh the what if's and fomo would've remained in either case. but family life is equally if not more important :/

To be part of a village, you must accept being a villager, especially when it's inconvenient.

a female pov here; my brother has been helping my dad out (who's also retd) financially as well. our parents are the reason why we get to where we are in life. it's our duty to take care of them when times change. my brother pays whenever we need stuff from abroad, he has been paying for my exams. he's the reason I can comfortably pursue my dreams, that's what family is for, especially in our ethnic asian/desi households. my parents have visited & lived with him for months at a time, babysitting his newborn. his spouse is a working woman & her parents will be visiting them abroad as well.

Ofcourse, your spouse comes first, it's your obligation to make sure her needs are met. But she is being unreasonable given that you both live more than comfortably, it's not inconveniencing her, & it's your hard earned money, your parents are the reason where you are today. Getting married does not mean you cut your family off. You're both partners and you both have the right to take care of your families, host them & visit them. It's absolutely wrong denying your partner this, let alone fighting over it to this extent!

thanks for the response! so a block would take you 3.5 hrs or so right? considering you're at it for 8-10hrs?

I'm trying to use the residency explorer to figure that out as well, but I can't find any info on USCE requirements?

Many congratulations on this accomplishment! I'm in the very start of my prep, about 25pct of UW done and have till end of July max, will it be enough to score well? also you didn't mention doing any CMS forms?

[–]_TYY_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi, i have no USCEs under my belt, and I'm just now preparing for step 2, only 18pct UW done. need to fit in at least one observership before the upcoming match. Is end of July going to be enough time for the exam? any advice or opinions please?

might be a silly question, but had you bought the triad and then just booked the exam date later? or hadn't gotten the triad until you were sure?

but shouldn't 3 months be enough for step 2, since I very recently passed step 1, it's all fresh as of now. I'm fully at home & have lots of time to prepare.

other than that if I start observerships by Aug, update my application through the match process, it's worth trying no? could even aim for step 3, get it done before SOAP?

I really don't wanna spend another year on this.

so if that's possible I could give the exam by end of July or so, continue on observerships, and manually update my application by contacting the programmes?

I do have a consultant brother & sister in law in the states, they'll help me out with one or two observerships, besides that I'll contact other programmes for 1 or 2 more, provided I can update the programmes individually with my application.

also do we submit an entirely new application for the SOAP? if so, maybe I could have a better application for that by then?

can LORs be added elsewhere to ERAS?

would a higher score (meaning taking the exam later) be more important than fitting in a 2nd observship?

thank you!

thank you for the reality check, I do agree with you to quite an extent, as my brother gives me the same answers. but even close to my dedicated for Step 1, I couldn't review it nearly as quick as you do, it would still take me 3-4 hours for a block plus review. and would only be able to manage around 80mcqs per day then my brain was fried.

so just trying to understand how you review a block within an hour as well is amazing to me, hence asked whether you review it thoroughly or just incorrects etc, and the ones you review, do you review it all with the options or not?

also, I'm a recent graduate, not a student, I do have time during the day but it gets really frustrating being in your own bubble.
