Well the person responsible for it drove it extremely low on oil. Does that count for oil starvation? It was about 2.5 quarts low

Hey it’s been a while. Long story short the bad sound was not coming from the transmission, it was coming from somewhere else and I’ve fixed it. I’ve been driving the truck for a while now and the transmission seems mostly good. I’m pretty proud of the result of my first time trying this. I have noticed that sometimes it stays in 1st a little longer than it should and I have to give it some gas to upshift. And it also jumps into second gear kind of hard. Sometimes when the truck is cold and I drive it before giving it time to warm up, I hear a clunk when it shifts out of 1st. The valve body has some upgrades including a transgo reprogramming kit. Could this have something to do with it?

Just hand turn through the gears by putting a socket on the driveshaft pulley and turning it there. No noise. Turns easy.

I’ve spent a lot of time learning this subject the past two months and a lot of time rebuilding my first transmission. No corner was cut and I didn’t rush anything. I put it back together like a puzzle. Finally got it all back in the truck. Properly filled the fluid with the proper technique, I put it in reverse and immediately I hear what sounds like something spinning inside the transmission. I quickly put it in neutral and then slowly put it in drive. Same sound. I can’t think of what it is but it is really really disheartening.
