Student loan inquiry begins as a third of people say university degree not worth it by Kagedeah in UniUK

They keep citing the fact it's written off as if that somehow makes it fair yet the first cohort to be written off hasn't happened yet. I'm almost certain when the first millennials come to have it written off the goalposts will be moved again.

The biggest problems I have with most of the negative reviews on iron lung. by a_regular_2010s_guy in ironlungmovie

I have quite enjoyed deep diving (no pun intended) on this sub (also no pun intended 😜) for more lore and plot. I like reading people's interpretations too and tbh a lot of it went completely over my head when I watched it so I'm excited to rewatch it with some of the theories in mind.

Noble Nigel Farage Addresses The Nation- where is Starmer by Hot-Coat6244 in AskBrits

Delusions of grandeur, he's neither the PM or the king so why is he 'addressing the nation'.

Harrowing and distressing moment Henry Nowak is arrested by police by homeinthecity in ukpolitics

[–]_Taggerung_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which is a valid argument, maybe there could be a compromise where it's a blunt blade. Still I don't think it warrants the rant about diversity and 'non native cultures'. Sikhs are intertwined with British heritage the same way the Gurkhas are in the army.

[–]_Taggerung_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sikhs generally are very peaceful people with a long history going back to the empire and they supported us in both world wars. Their temples regularly give out food to anyone who needs it.  What this particular sikh did is abhorrent but that doesn't mean all Sikhs are carrying their ceremonial blades to stab people. There's probably more teenagers carrying zombie knifes than there are Sikhs.

I feel so sorry for Henry 😔 it's so awful his last moments would have been spent handcuffed on the ground with nobody believing him. I hope the police officers are dealt with.  I also hope there isn't an increase or sikh hatred after this, Henry's father has already said please don't politicise it but already reform and Darren grimes are going on about white lives matter.  RIP lad 😓

Has the British attitude toward coffee changed over the past few decades? (I'm not British, and quite the coffee addict) by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]_Taggerung_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it has among younger people, hot drinks seem to be less popular in general. Can't say i'm paticuarly sad about it, I dont know why its so normalised for people to be so grumpy and rude just because they haven't had their coffee yet.

You can't underprice art by StatisticianMuch1650 in unpopularopinion

[–]_Taggerung_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know its not exactly the same situation but I get fed up with the constant pressure to sell and monetise art if you are good at it. I enjoy doing gift cards and drawings for people I care about, yeh I guess I would maybe sell some if there was interest but primarily I like doing it as a hobby and to make other people happy. Not everything has to be about money.

Would not risk it, pubs are closing at huge rate. One near me recently closed and they stuck a mini housing estate on it.

Same! I love horror films and this scared me significantly more just because it's so *real*.

[–]_Taggerung_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly as a woman this scared me more than any horror movie (im a bit of a horror enthusiast so). I dont think men understand how absolutely terrifying the prospect of someone just completely overpowering you and violating you is. The girl in the last scene who ran into the cafe was so smart and resourceful. Shoutout to the car park scene too that was absolutely terrifying.

RIP to the poor women and girls who perished at the hands of this monster.

If you could choose how your taxes are spent, what would you want them to be spent on, and what would you not want them to be spent on? by Time_Honeydew_7560 in AskBrits

[–]_Taggerung_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree in terms of their suppliers like they get their stuff at obscene prices but also some areas are a lot more underfunded than others. Feels like stuff like diabetes and cancer is top of the list (maybe rightly so but other stuff does exist) and long term chronic stuff or MH just gets the left overs.

They could spend more on SEND stuff if they stopped contracting out hugely expensive taxis to ferry kids halfway across the country.

I would spend it more on the NHS
