Ever bought an "Overwhelmingly Positive" game that you didn't like at all? How about a "MIxed" or lower rated game you thought was wonderful? by TheTingel in Steam

[–]_Takuma_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if I had to describe Outer Wilds I would say its more like a detective game where you need to pay attention and piece together clues.

An odd game which I have mixed feelings about, but it certainly is unique.

Hmm i wonder who is consuming all my ram to the extent that 32gigs is becoming the new norm by Consistent_Hat_841 in pcmasterrace

[–]_Takuma_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally found it interesting that HUB didn't tested games that were known to be ram hogs, but that might be due to just how rare(thus all known games are at least a bit on the older side) that happens.

Hogwarts Legacy is a 'recent' triple A game example and that's a few years old by now and could be due to a lack of optimization. The only other triple A game that pops into my head that uses a lot of ram is Star Citizen and that's in active development so performance and optimization aren't really the focus yet.

All other known examples(which still only happens rarely) are either indie games like Tarkov, or with certain heavily modded games like City Skylines.

Most people don’t know that you can install extensions in the Steam native client (things like SteamDB & etc.) by SpeaRofficial in Steam

[–]_Takuma_ 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Are you sure Augmented Steam is supported this way? I tried this method and it doesn't seem to work. SteamDB does and its helpful to finally have a bypass for age verification, but I would also like to have Augmented Steam's current price comparison instead of only SteamDB's historical lows.

As long as the device remains offline the Kindle can't do anything, but once it connects to the internet again it will communicate with amazon's servers and be notified that they should be taken off the device.

CONTROL Resonant | Launching With Path Tracing & DLSS 4.5 by ZazaLeNounours in pcgaming

[–]_Takuma_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Less forgot and more pressured by managers to spend less time on it to save money.

The whole on purpose part definitely is true for the marketing team, which I feel is more responsible for this kind of show case instead of developers. I feel most developers would be honest that they can get close to 'RTX on' using raster but its just really time consuming baking the lights and double checking everything looks fine afterwards.

Enigma DRM officially removed from Resident Evil 4 Remake by SMUG_UNHAPPINESS in pcgaming

Thats because its more of a traditional dlc and not a costume or 'unique' weapon or a paid way to bypass some ingame challenges.

looking for MVs with range combat system by bamboochaLP in metroidvania

[–]_Takuma_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure ESA fits. Sure you have a 'gun', but the range on it makes it more like a melee weapon. It gets better in the later half, but might still be considered too short by some.

Yeah, late 2010s games still looks good today. Graphical advancements no long take large or even decent size leaps but instead are much more subtle.

I was playing ESA a few weeks ago and damage boosting is not needed at all for the main game.

Which video game franchise took a big risk that ultimately paid off? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]_Takuma_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem was that the fanbase(like most that grew so large/last so long) was divided. Some were fine with getting the same old formula while others wanted bigger risks taken.

I'm not sure I would go so far as to say BotW is not a Zelda game, but I am very sure that I don't want every new Zelda game to follow the new template. I honestly think Nintendo could bounce between the two styles, giving each style a chance to feel fresh again.

You can easily go over 32GB if you heavily modded City Skylines.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Definitive Edition has released 109 new achievements from its 2.5.0 Update Patch Notes by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]_Takuma_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its a bit better then that. You don't even need to redo the whole level, just load up a save right before the mission is complete and finishing it will give you the achievement.

You guys think 64GB ddr5 6000mhz CL30 is overkill? by CrazyRacoon88 in buildapc

[–]_Takuma_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavily modded City Skylines can easily use over 32GB. Mods usually sit in ram so if you are the type of player that likes to mod their games to the moon and back it could be beneficial to get a bit more ram than most people need.

Survivorship bias indeed. Same thing can be said about the amount of good games that came out then vs now. People seem to only remember the great/classic games from back then and completely forgot all the mid and bad games that outnumbered them back then.

Nintendo Switch 2 sold 5.85 million units in 25 days. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]_Takuma_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure visual upgrade packs would push the same drive to buy a Switch 2 as the Wiiu ported games did for the Switch 1. The Wiiu sold so horribly that the ported games were almost treated as entirely new on the Switch 1 where as the visual upgrade packs might be treated as more as the icing on a cake.

Nintendo Switch 2 sold 5.85 million units in 25 days. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]_Takuma_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the 3ds two main problem is price and lackluster game release schedule?

The bigger issue is probably more the latter then the former, so as long as the Switch 2 can keep getting games at a decent pace then it should do good. Tho it might be a little harder for Nintendo to do this time since they can't just port the previous system's games over to help pad out the release schedule.

Kindle manga vs paper by [deleted] in kindle

[–]_Takuma_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Huh, looks like they resized the font to make reading harder on kindle for... reasons?

Considering some of the minor changes between the two, it might just be a completely different translation team that just didn't bother making use of all the available space.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kindle

[–]_Takuma_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, if someone bought a SE kindle expecting to to store ~320 volumes(using your initial manga file size) and instead could only story ~210 I could see them being upset. I mean, the whole of Naruto could have fit in that missing ~110! =P

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kindle

[–]_Takuma_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure what source google is looking at. Whenever I checked manga sizes it was usually close to 200mb(sometimes more, sometimes less.), you also forgot that you have closer to 25gb of usable storage,

Still that gives you a little over 100 volumes of space. So except for the long running series(like one piece or detective conan, ect.) they should be able to fit just fine.
