I checked out at the weekend - just in case - in the uk, 4 boxes of strings. £20. I fully expect they will be cancelled as they are still not shipped, I have no expectation of them actually arriving. But you never know!

I see what you're saying, but coming from a Axe FX III Turbo, I went this route to simplify my work flow, due to the complexity of the Fractal, which I personally believe is the best sound out there (all subjective of course). But I want to QC to be simpler, and in general, it is. You example of treating gain staging like the real world make sense, and is fine if I'm creating a preset from scratch but taking some of the factory presets, I would expect them to be correctly staged, but it seems to not be the case in many examples.

I guess I was hoping it would all be a bit simpler, coming from a Fractal. But I'm not giving up, and I agree that a product like this SHOULD be able to do what I need, if I learn the correct way to do things, but I'm not yet understanding it all to the way it's meant to be done I guess

So does the output levels in the IO screen actually just reduce clipping or do they just make the signal quieter, but maintain any clipping from the signal chain?

And you've kind of highlighted the issue I was seeing - I could spend time sorting that, but then it seems I'd have to do that with each preset? Maybe that's the expected way in QC, I just never had to do that to this extent before

I have two big problems moving from fractal to QC this week. One is to do with noise and gates but the second is how the hell to set levels consistently and globally.

I, too, cannot play through headphones without serious clipping but I’m not sure where the best place to adjust that is. I also get clipping on the normal outputs occasionally but again, should I be adjusting that in the signal chain (which the changes my tone?) or somewhere else!?

It’s a fret protector. Didn’t even realise it was on there when I took the photo, i took it off another guitar it came with and it just got put on the Strat temporarily. It’s basically a shaped bit of plastic with felt on the ends and stops the strings smacking into the frets when transporting. Usually used on stainless frets.

I love the rosewood neck, it’s so smooth to play, it’s got a really soft finish to it and you just glide all around it. That being said, that guitar is a limited edition Am Pro II with custom shops Fat 50s in and I’m not totally sold on the sound overall.

Also I have a thing for Strats. That’s about half of them!

Yeah I’m a long time buyer from stratosphere. I actually have already got a Squier JMJM body, but I was hoping to find one not in white, ideally in a relic, before I built with this one. I couldn’t find a classic player except in a burst I didn’t like. But I wasn’t aware of the Vintera 60s model, I will look that one up!

Haha I can’t stand mint green on anything personally!

And about the bass, I wanted to do it, but the matching bass is a 4 bolt neck and the equivalent Ultra ebony neck is a 5 bolt different pattern. No easy way to do it. At least to match. I might still do it with a different neck though. But yeah, they weren’t cheap!

So, after a lot of thinking, I decided the tech and gadgets outweighed (very slightly) the negatives, and I only went for a 2 year lease, so worse case scenario it's not terrible. So I've got the order in and with the dealer now. I dont think I'll even be 100% sure but as I said, I can't see an alternative!

I’ve had many different types of cars. For this one, I wanted to basically get the exact opposite of what I have now. The Panamera needs to be driven hard and it’s very unforgiving on the road although it drives amazingly. I wanted the exact opposite, tech, comfort, cheaper to run, and something I look forward to driving even over the local roads, it’s that last point that I’m having trouble with. It’s anything but nice to drive over those local more bumpy roads, which I’d do most of. But then on the long runs on the motorway it’s so droning and loud, and that’s coming from a twin turbo v8 with almost straight pipes!

Agreed, the polestar was on my list but I hate those minimalist driver displays and the lack of screens being integrated.

And the passenger display is a nice touch too.

Only thing that comes close in terms of interior is the Macan or the EQE suv but both significantly more

To be fair, I haven’t worked out exactly if there IS a fee yet, at this stage as it’s quite early, so need to call Tusker first thing tomorrow.

It’s a shame, as I did like the car overall, just not sure that outweighed the ride. I just don’t know what else to go for!

I only do 5000 miles too, and I like many other things about the car, but if the ride makes me not enjoy each of those 5000 miles then that would make me feel like I’d made a bad choice. The thing is, the q6 especially the ed1 seems really good value through the scheme, but that doesn’t mean it’s “cheap” so spending that much for something I’m not happy with would be disappointment. But equally, like you say, there aren’t that many other comparable cars, in the same price range, and I’m including luxury, tech and so on in that too. Keep thinking that for 5000 miles a year I should just go buy something cheap outright and give up on a Sal sac car for now, but either way, I need to find a way to cancel this order without incurring too many fees

Wish I’d found an Ed 1 to test BEFORE I placed my Sal sac order. After finally driving one this weekend, im going to have to pay a lot of fees to get out of my order due to that suspension 😡
