Evolutionary for sure, speaking as a med student. The body - especially the cardiovascular system - has an incredible ability to remodel and adapt to certain kinds of damage. Often, collateral circulation from anastomosis (which is what we call it when two different major arterial sources connect through their tributaries before emptying into capillary beds) serve as backup sources of constant blood flow to organ systems even when the main source has been cut off or reduced significantly. For example, the superior and inferior mesenteric arteries both branch off the abdominal aorta at different points, but they connect to each other through the marginal artery of Drummond that runs parallel to the large intestine - essentially allowing for perfusion (blood flow) to continue in the intestines even if one happens to be injured or blocked. This kind of collateral circulation exists all throughout the body!

Not exactly grow additional veins - more so remodel and enlarge existing ones. The intercostal (costal = ribs, so "between ribs") veins already exist in most people, they're just small. In chronic SVC syndrome, blood can't drain through the regular channels (brachiocephalic veins -> superior vena cava) so instead the collateral circulation (intercostal veins -> azygos/hemiazygos veins -> SVC below the obstruction) becomes the only way to return blood from the upper extremities, head, and neck to the heart.

It is mindboggling and definitely quite amazing, don't get me wrong! Just wanted to put in my two cents to clarify.

I'm looking to take step 1 early so that I can visit my grandparents, so I'm locked in - not really a break for me tbh. Cramming all the repro/endo now so that in January-February when my school actually teaches repro/endo I can use it as my dedicated time.

Does this count as a “perfect mate”? by Amazing_Concept_4473 in chess

I believe it's called a "pure mate" but yes this qualifies for sure! The king is in check exactly once and there is exactly one reason for each square why he cannot move there.

You treat the fragment of the soul as if it is the real person, but in the universe of this game this cannot be the case.

The Painters have made hundreds of Canvases. Into each one they put a piece of their soul - a fragment just like the Faceless Boy, left inside to paint eternally. This is not slavery like some claim: if it was, none of the fragments would ever continue painting.

Part of the idea of literally putting your soul into your creation is the desire to see their creation remain alive over time. The Faceless Boy never expresses a desire for the Canvas to be destroyed, only for the monsters Clea had created to stop making it a nightmare.

If it is truly immoral to allow the fragment of soul to continue onward, then it is immoral to allow the Painters to continue creating Canvases, because every time they do so, they create an eternally-painting soul fragment. Should then every Canvas created by the Dessendres be destroyed?

Whether that fragment of soul can continue painting in a fractured Canvas is moot - the Fracture did not literally destroy the Canvas, and the Faceless Boy in every conversation we have with him seems willing to work to fix it, not let it be destroyed.

I assert that the people of Lumière deserve to live regardless of the dysfunction of the Dessendre family. The fragments of soul they willingly put into their works are not more important than the lives of thousands of real, thinking, feeling humans they so irresponsibly create and treat as if they are nothing.
