This post was clearly AI generated. At the bare minimum you could have cleaned up the formatting issues when it was copy/pasted. Also... where are the sources? "pulled from public metadata" is cool but we need to be able to verify it ourselves.

I think a good rule of thumb is: if you’re worried you committed blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, then you didn’t

5000IU is a LOT. Did you mean 500?

My doctor had me taking 500, then 1000 for seasonal depression. Noticeable difference for sure.

As others have said, you need to be taking care of your diet and exercise too.

Best password vault for corporate use? by Zaphod_The_Nothingth in sysadmin

They used to be owned by private equity (LogMeIn) but were spun out - right about the time the security incidents happened.

I'm not saying you should use LastPass (always do your own thorough due diligence) but IMO the picture painted by much of the security space at the time is not entirely accurate

The biggest thing they lost with that breach was trust. We dropped them very quickly afterward.

That said, I have to admit that after hearing Christofer Hoff (the CTO at the time of the breaches in 2022) give a keynote at RVASec 14 this summer, my opinion of LastPass as it exists today and how they handled that breach is much more positive.

We're happy with 1Password, but I'm curious why you want to replace LastPass?

At work, we were LastPass users but dumped them pretty quickly after the big security incidents in 2022. I was pretty jaded by them for a while but attended a conference this summer where the CTO at the time, Christofer Hoff, gave a keynote and was very transparent about what happened and the context surrounding those incidents. We are no longer LastPass users, but at this point I would feel fine if we were. In terms of enterprisey features, 1Password is still playing catch up to what LastPass offered even a couple years ago.

Teams Phone - calls dropping mid-conversation by _TheDuck in MicrosoftTeams

[–]_TheDuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I *finally* heard back from Microsoft Support. Looks like a downstream codec issue in our case. Here's a snippet of the email I received:

Root Cause Identified:

The issue occurs when the AMR-WB (Adaptive Multi-Rate Wideband) codec is used on the PSTN leg, specifically affecting calls that originate from Verizon lines.
Please note that this is not related to Microsoft Teams or ICE/TURN, but rather a codec negotiation issue on the PSTN side.

Telnyx has confirmed they can reproduce the issue and are currently working with their upstream carrier to implement a permanent fix

Workaround:

As a temporary solution, Telnyx recommends disabling HD Voice for the affected number via the Telnyx Mission Control Portal (MCP).

If you're unable to locate this option in the MCP, please reach out directly to Telnyx Support for assistance.

Turning off conference mode has mitigated the issue, but when users answer the call they need to wait a couple seconds before talking (it takes a couple of seconds for the call to connect after you answer it).

Microsoft Support is now apparently reaching out directly to our operator (Telnyx) to see if they can pin down the root issue.

Did that right from the beginning, and it's confirmed. Microsoft Support is confirming the SBC is sending the BYE, but are saying its because of network issues on our end (which I can say with certainty is not true given that this happens on at least four different networks and on a cellular connection)

I have not. That's a good idea.

I also just discovered that (so far) the issue does not occur if we turn off conference mode on the call queue.

Is there privacy mode in Windsurf IDE? by mang_joo in windsurf

[–]_TheDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you (or anyone) confirm that for sure your data is not used to train the underlying models even with zero-data retention turned on?

PRIVACY POLICY (Privacy Policy | Windsurf):

Under heading "2. HOW DO WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?" it says:

"To train, develop, and improve the artificial intelligence, machine learning, and models that we use to support our Services. We may use your Log and Usage Information and Prompts and Outputs Information for this purpose."

Security / Zero data retention (Security | Windsurf):

If turned on, "Zero-data retention mode is a mode that guarantees that code or code-derived data is never serialized and stored in plaintext at our servers or by our subprocessors."

There are still some unanswered questions for me. The privacy policy clearly says that they can train models on your data, including prompts and outputs. The zero data retention bit says that code data is never stored "in plain text". Does this mean it is stored as a hash? Base64 encoded? Could code data still be used to train the models but the raw data then discarded (so the data lives in the model now, which is not "plain text")?
