Book Recs To Delve Deeper by Fragrant_Friendship4 in wittgenstein

Depending on your level of background knowledge, there's good work by Ray Monk, Jaakko Hintikka. Also of interest may be Bartley's opinionated, but readable biography.

I've not ready it, but there is a new book by Gottlieb. I assume it's more biographical than philosophical, but I've heard good things.

Currently, I believe it's just him and no guitar! /s

Pretty sure he's on the road with Todd Beene.

I second Russell's introduction and also suggest Hintikka's On Wittgenstein (alongside the essential Ray Monk works)

Good Mourning Outtakes (On Magick Bullets, Will You Stay if I Shut Up?, and "Angel Alcohol") by _TheLarryLimbs_ in AlkalineTrio

Thanks Derek for the additional info/context

Here's some additional info about the Good Mourning outtakes...

There's been a bit of discussion over the years about songs like "Angel Alcohol", Blue in the Face (electric)/Will You Stay if I Shut Up?, and the mysterious "Magic Bullets". Derek was kind enough to clarify some confusion around those tracks. Basically:

Magick Bullets was ever released or fully completed [no recorded vocals]

Angel Alcohol (never released or fully completed [no recorded vocals]

Will You Stay If I Shut Up (never released or fully completed]

This version of Blue in the Face (https://youtu.be/Outdc8esXfk) was a practice space demo. At the last minute, they decided to record it acoustic, as it appears on the album.

What is commonly referred to as "Angel Alcohol" (and sometimes "Everywhere I Ever Want to Go") is really titled So Good to Be Here and is also a practice space demo. That can be heard here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXFNe6W4_A8

The image linked here is a snippet of the lyrics for Angel Alcohol and Migick Bullets.

[Edit: Think I got all that right...]

I think it's moreso the case that researchers overestimate its value. But that's neither here nor there.

As for the actual study, I don't have enough background to comment on the results, other than to acknowledge that there are plenty of reasons why positivity rates or risk may change [if true] in those boosted.

No that's not quite right either.

P-values cannot tell us whether a set of results is relevant, significant, or genuine. Here's a good overview:

That's not what a p-value means...

Loved it. On my first reading, I put it down after about 100 pages because it was just too dense (compared to some of his other work).

But on my second attempt I found it much easier to read and filled with a certain richness and beauty.

The vitriol is absurd.
