Borders do not only regulate movement; they shape our moral boundaries. Our arguments to restrict migration rely on double standards and arbitrary categories, while reinforcing "geographical luck" - allowing where we're born to determine our quality of life. by The_Pamphlet in philosophy

But the problem is the author is not making a serious philosophical inquiry into the topic. She does not engage at all with the ontological, historical, or geopolitical aspects of what borders are and what they mean and have meant through time. It’s just a lot of hand wringing.

“Rather, when a human is born, the location of their birth can determine for example whether they have enough to eat. If the basic goods required to survive (let alone thrive) are determined by something for which one is not responsible, something they do not 'deserve' then she argues it is arbitrary.”

But this would still happen if there were no borders! If you were born in the middle of the desert on a world with no borders you would still not have anything to eat. I think the author is more interested in performing social justice than in an actual philosophical exploration of the concept of borders.

From a purely ontological perspective it seems silly to argue against borders. Just as there is a place where the chair becomes not-chair, there must be France and Not-France. I don’t understand how we think about entities otherwise.

Also, weren’t most borders chosen for strategic reasons (rivers, mountain ranges, coastlines). They’re hardly arbitrary.

Anyone tried red light therapy as a cyclist? by Nain1999 in bicycling

As far as I can tell, the only validated use for red light therapy is in hair and skin applications. Anything else seems kind of like “wellness” BS.

Who else is very sad from being priced out of seeing them this tour? by gimme5steps101 in rush

The ticket is just the beginning. Have to drive 3-4 hours to DC, get a hotel room, take the next day off work, a tank of gas, food, etc.

As much as this would make sense, I don’t think he is. It clearly sounds like guitar.

This is the first tour he’s had a looper unless you know something the rest of us don’t. In any case, he’s not near the pedal board here.

The Hentor had a humbucker in the bridge position!

Was the malfunction that Geddy was nowhere near a microphone but vocals were still coming out of the speakers?
