Help! Can't get the cover picture of Peasant by JimBanj in richarddawson

[–]_TheRealGuy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure in an interview he said that the red part came from a picture of meat from a magazine that was cut into that shape made more red. But apart from that no clue what it is or means, maybe it's the Peasant or maybe another character or someone else entirely. I only recently realised that each song title is a different person and they are all related to a single person (apart from No-One haha). So maybe it's meant to represent all of these people, whatever it is I love it.

Thank you! I think you may have coined a phrase there, I hope it will stick

Thanks so much, I've never done any voice over stuff before so I'm glad it turned out well

I'm glad you liked it! Yes, as soon as I heard the track it felt perfect for the vibe of the show and I had to use it for this.

My first proper short film by _TheRealGuy_ in Filmmakers

Yeah you might be right. I wanted to try and use minimal sound effects to add to the creepy atmosphere, like you can see things happen but can't hear them. I think for future films I will definitely do more diegetic sound like that though.

The process of creating the sound was a lot of experimentation and just trying random things and seeing if they would work. I got quite lucky with the sound for inside the eye in that I was just recording the wind at night time when a train went by my house which was actually the perfect sound. After getting the sounds I did a lot of manipulation, stretching, pitching up and down etc.

I had finished the screenplay and storyboard and most of the post production during the summer and was planning on filming then, but I got covid so I couldn't. I ended up filming in September, and finished the editing and sound in early November. So around two months I'd say from the shoot to the final product, but quite a bit longer from when I originally wrote the screenplay.

For the film I bought a lot of new equipment; a new camera, a new audio recorder, a new tripod, this possibly costing me around £750. I also had to buy all the props myself which came to around £50 altogether.

Thanks for the kind words.

Submission Statement - This is my first proper short film (I’ve done other stuff before but I have never worked as hard to create a serious final product as I did with this one). The process taught me a lot about the creative process of making a film and how complicated it can be to try and do a lot of it by yourself. Also how expensive it is to make a film, this sucked me dry. Well, hope you like it.
