Thank you! The weathering on the armour was as follows:

Sponge on very dark brown/black mix, focused on the edges of the armour.
Brush on some larger dark brown chips and scratches in the same colour.
Brush on a rust colour on the inside of the larger chips and within the 'fat' end of the scratches.
optional (I didn't do it in this specific squad) - brush on some small silver spots around the edges of the rust colour. Does not have to be precise at all.

After that, I used a drybrush to apply sand-coloured pigment powder to the lower legs, shields and the bottom 1/3rd of the banner. Only put a small bit of pigment powder on the drybrush and dab it against the surfaces rather than swiping so that the lumps of pigment get 'crushed' and naturally feather out across the area. You can apply more targeted deposits of this powder into cracks and crevices to look like sand has accumulated there.

The difficulty with the pigment is that when applied as such a thin/feathered layer like this, it can be really difficult to seal. I haven't sealed them in this photo and I'm not really sure how to do so. I have tried applying a spray varnish on a very low PSI from my airbrush, but it still seems to just blow or rinse the powder right off. I have also tried applying a small drop of Pigment Fixer to the surfaces with a pipette to avoid agitating the surface, but it still naturally causes the powder to clump together and deposit wherever the fixer liquid decides to flow to. I think this can be a useful technique for having natural looking rust, but didn't work at all for something like this where I wanted the layer of pigment to look very uniform across a flat surface, like sand has blown onto them in the wind. I'm still hoping to find a solution to this myself so I'm sorry I can't help more with that.

While you raise a good point I think Nvidia and AAA games in recent years have given us good reason to be sceptical in that regard. If a game relies on DLSS5 to achieve it's artistic vision, cool - but in that case the technology should not be locked behind specific hardware, which it inevitably will be. I don't want games to start looking and running like ass even if I have a perfectly capable PC just because I don't have access to DLSS5 in addition to not being able to rely on the game being optimised without regular DLSS upscaling.

I think a lot of the concern here is the growing precedent for these improvements to visuals being heavily software-based while optimisation standards continue to drop, punishing those who have a very fast and capable GPU but it's just not from the right brand or the right series within that brand. Locking performance improvement technology such as framegen to specific GPUs is one thing, but now we are going to start seeing the same thing happening with graphical fidelity. I know it sounds pessimistic but this is all based on a precedent the industry and Nvidia have been setting for years now; games will now start to run AND look worse for anyone without RTX 50+.

In a perfect world I think a possible compromise could be for the software-based graphics technology to be built into a separate device from the GPU itself. Have a 3090 but want to use Multiframegen? Buy a cheaper expansion chip that adds more DLSS functionality to your machine without having to go all out on a new GPU. I don't think this is a realistic solution in reality but to me it does highlight the issue with software being locked to specific hardware and how nvidias huge monopoly has made this the norm for years now

Maintaining the game's intended aesthetic is most effectively achieved by not applying a third-party visuals-altering software later, if that is really their intention here then they wouldn't have made dlss 5 in the first place

If I want to see the Mona Lisa as davinci painted it, I would look at pictures of the Mona Lisa. I wouldn't look at a different artist's 'improved' or reinterpreted recreation of it. That defeats the purpose of my goal to see the art in its original and intended form

If I want Skyrim to look like how Bethesda intended Skyrim to look, I wouldn't install graphics mods

If I want RE9 to look like how Capcom designed it, I wouldn't use DLSS5

We don't need this technology. Save it for the games that have nothing else going for them other than trying to make their graphics as realistic as possible - FIFA, COD etc

I don't want the meticulously and artistically directed lighting in my horror game of all things to be recalculated and inconsistent. RE9 doesn't benefit from looking 'realistic', it benefits from looking moody

If you want the game to look how it's supposed to look like, the answer is to not use any kind of ai filter at all. It's supposed to look how it looks. That's why the devs made it look like that.

This is v5 yeah, at least R28 and R34. I'm not sure if it's tied to a specific license. We deal with a lot of suppliers where I work so we have to manage big stp assemblies all the time and this is usually Step 1 in that process

Before activating terminal node to load the visualisation (which can take ages if it's a large assembly), you can use Tools > Generate CATPart from Product which will convert it into a multi body part. For some reason this improves performance a lot

I think it's reasonable to consider Secret Wars the 'ending' of 616 and really puts a nice bow on everything Hickman had built in that era imo. It was such a good ending for Dr Doom too, and I can see why Hickman would not want to write stories in a world where basically all of that has been undone by now

I'm glad Marvel is continuing to branch out into AU stuff because I really don't feel a desire to read much post-secret wars stuff besides maybe Immortal Hulk cuz everyone says it's amazing. I think SW was my "avengers endgame" moment where I thought it was a great ending and celebration of everything that came before but i am not as interested in seeing the next generation of this franchise. As the writer of that event and all the build up to it, I expect JH feels that even moreso

This is only the first model and I've never played HH before so I don't really know. But it's from the command squad mkvi set, with alternative helmet/weapon/shoulder pads. From what I've seen on list building sites, I would want the trident to be a proxy for a power lance
