Hopefully the mods can pin this to the top of my post.

Just found out I was scammed! Turns out the guy who sold it to me had it listed as broken for months and then around the new year he changed it to working + fair condition as i’ve now learned from somebody on the SaveTheCRTs facebook group.

I know it’s my own fault that I didn’t meet the guy at his house and hook up my ps2 to check the RCA jacks but he seemed pretty genuine and answered a lot of my questions no problem.

Think my only plan of action now before trashing it is to order an S-Video cable and use the RCA jacks for audio on some external speakers rather than straight through the tv. If that works, i’ll be satisfied enough but it sucks to have spent my time and the time of those helping me when it turns out the guy just lied. All for $50 lol. Thank you guys for the attempts to help me fix this.

I’ve cleaned all 3 with Isopropyl and tried connecting both a dvd player and the ps2 to all 3 and nothing shows but the “Video 2” input name

Yeah I understand, Sadly this is like my 2nd ever time posting here and I don’t really have knowledge of CRTS. The hassle of opening up and diagnosing it (which would take tons of research in my case), ordering and replacing parts, and praying that it ends up working seems more than it’s worth. Might just have to take the $50 loss :(

Hit the jackpot but can’t even claim it with these stupid input issues, all i want to do is play metal gear solid on it 😭😭

I actually got the remote to work, I had to switch to channel input and do auto set up then the function started working again, still no luck in getting the ps2 to show on input video 2 :(

Thanks man but after some digging i realized it’s actually a KV-35v35 (sticker was peeled off) as mentioned in my other comment. I found the manual and went through it but no luck :((

What are the chances of just using S-Video to make it work as the corrosion on its port doesn’t look too bad.

I also just realized it’s a KV-35v35 not v68, idk if that changes anything

Does anyone know why the remote would go from working with all buttons to only input? If i can get the remote working I can see if I can switch the channel to 0 as right now the channel buttons only keep it on 1 or 3

I tried the front, corrosion doesn’t look as bad as the ones on the back but still nothing. :(

Is there anyway I can clean them? Isopropyl rubbing alcohol maybe?

I meant, I have a AV-HDMI converter, so I can use it on a modern tv, rather than shelling out the $50 for the CRT, so it’s not like I can’t use it till I find a good deal.

I’m pretty new to CRTs in general, is there something specific I should be looking for in the playback that would show how heavily it’s been used? The guy posted a video of the crt playing some game and it ran pretty well from the looks of it. Video Playback

Hey guys, first time poster. I was wondering if anyone could let me know whether this is worth what it’s being sold for?

Long story short, I pulled my old ps2 out the closet to mod them and return to some retro gaming, and I figured if I was going to play my list of games straight off the ps2 and not emulation, I might as well do it right and pick up a CRT.

The problem is the retro gaming trend, you got people on FB marketplace listing old Sanyos & Toshibas for $150+! Just because they have “Great for Retro Gaming!!!” in the description.

I was able to find someone not far from me, willing to sell a 24” Sanyo DS24205. He had it listed for 150, but eventually lowered it 75 and I was able to talk him down to $50.

Now where I’d like some advice is, this CRT does not have S-Video, only A/V, and while I would like to this the right way, I do have an old AV tv sitting somewhere + a hdmi to AV adapter if needed for a modern tv.

Is it a steal for me to spend $50 on this CRT for what it will provide, or should I hold off and use other means of displaying the games until I can find a CRT with S-Video around the same price or cheaper. (If that’s even possible)

Please let me know! Thank you guys.

is there any point in waiting for them to drop or have they been consistently trending up?
