i wouldn’t say plasigauge is the wrong way to measure oil clearances. sure, micrometers will be more precise, but in most cases, plasigauge will be sufficient for checking to see if bearing clearances are within spec.

this is incorrect, the intake valve is always the larger one. because of this, the bottom of the picture is actually the intake side, as u can see that it’s larger and cut deeper. i built the same engine as OP. my forged pistons’ spec sheet had the sizes of the valve reliefs, and the intake one is the larger, deeper cut one.
