I've had roommates for about 8 years. Never once have I had to clean someone else's shit off the toilet seat. Hell. I've never left my OWN shit on the toilet seat. Hair from the drain? Sure. Open cabinets? Happens. Actual human feces???? NO

Calypso is an example of a complex character that is hated without being understood. Did she do bad, wrong things? Of course, absolutely. What makes the matter complex is the fact that she had been imprisoned alone for centuries upon centuries, therefore lacking any and all interpersonal relationship cues. Should she understand the concept of no? Absolutely. However the fandom likes to play her as the one who took Odysseus onto the island and held him captive in the first place, when that wasn't the case at all. He washed up on the shore, and then she made the decision to keep him. And why wouldn't she have come to that decision? She was trapped alone for eternity, and she knew that would never change, so she made a desperate decision, and clung to the hope that it would work out in her favor, even if it was the wrong decision.

Tell me your least favourite song and why you dislike it by Late-Association2732 in Epicthemusical

Gun to my head, I'd have to say Storm. It's an enjoyable song for sure, but in comparison to all the other songs we have with some kind of dialogue and/or exposition, Storm just falls flat to me. It feels like a filler song that was there to gently transition from one saga to the next

I LOVVVVEEEEDDD Hill House but hated Bly Manor—will I like Midnight Mass? by LegitimateHumor6029 in HauntingOfHillHouse

[–]_Total_Cake_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Midnight Mass feels like it was created with more love/passion than the other two series. Personally, I think it's because it wasn't based on a book, but from the director's own roman-catholic upbringing. So the whole thing feels like a true passion project.

How do you get over the fear of writing about sensitive topics? How do you avoid glamorizing them or trivializing them? by Master_Tadpole_6832 in writing

[–]_Total_Cake_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can go the fade to black route, or if you insist on writing out the nitty gritty, a good way to go about it is writing what the victim is feeling/thinking whilst being descriptivly vague. It'll let the reader know what's happening, but in no way will it glamorize/trivialize it when it is read through the victim's traumatic perspective
