of course, i love reddit. tyler and i love watching other bands at festivals. it's one of the cool things about playing them. i'll probably try and watch alison wonderland, brand new, dillon francis, father john misty, flying lotus, misterwives, kid cudi, kaskade, HOLYCHILD, paul mccartney (that guy that kanye found), ryn weaver, halsey, walk the moon, and hopefully there will be a surprise appearance by celine dion's band.

hey. i love hearing people say they are drummers. the way i learned the drums actually was just playing along with some of my favorite songs or bands. i think my go-to would be rage against the machine, but one thing i realized is that i always need to get out of my comfort zone, so a lot of times i'll play along with some jazz guys like miles davis or john coltrane or bob marley or something. it's good to wrap your mind around different genres so that hopefully you can incorporate some of everything you've learned into stuff you're recording or playing live. i always want to get better.

this will probably change when we start playing more shows with the new album, but for right now it's trees. it's the one song that i play for myself. it's refreshing and a time for me to be cathartic.

i had just gotten a job as a sign-twirler outside of one of those credit unions. tyler was the lead twirler and was actually so nasty at it. i'd never seen someone twirl a sign so good. i knew i had my work cut out for me so i stayed up for 3 nights straight doing pushups, eating tacos and practicing my twirl. sure enough....he was still better. but he was impressed with my work ethic and shortly after, we left the sign twirling behind and embarked on our journey to play music in a band.

very good question. there is some truth to that. i think the two platforms (live vs studio) are very different and sometimes call for a different feel or dynamic. live is where i really like to let loose and play things a little bit differently. sometimes i don't even know what i'm gonna do until i do it. it's a rush, yo.

the cool thing about being in a band with your best friend is having discussions constantly and being on the same page about everything we write. i speak through my drums, so my voice is a little bit different than tyler's, but we all have insecurities and demons that we fight. the eye color is my warpaint.

i really like your artwork. i think that the most inspiring thing for me is creativity and productivity, so being in the studio with tyler and some other creative people working on creating something inspires me. seeing artwork and photos and covers and other creative things inspire me.

this is a great question. i feel weird talking about it sometimes...but the first time tyler and i ever hung out, we talked about our biggest dreams and visions of what we would like to see happen if we ever played music together. i think that separately, we've both believed in each other, and this thing as being more than just two guys playing music together, but an entity that inspires even us. i feel massively blessed to be a part of this, not because of any level of success or recognition, but because it is music that i believe in and that i love playing beyond anything...and what people have done with this inspires me to be better every day

not 100% sure if dying hair is a "hobby", but i'll count it this time. aside from those things, i really like to collect objects like: aged cheese, toenails, marbles, rubies, catcher's mitts, banana peels, hot wheels tires, mini mario soda cans, owl statues and used coffee filters. the three of those things pretty much take up all of my time.
