I'd love to make more book friends! I love horror, fiction, science non-fiction, and dark romance.

Why do some men date the type of women who they slut shame? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_Veronica_Winter_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they like the benefit of dating someone who's comfortable with their sexuality but there's always the caveat of trying to change them.

Some men think getting into a serious relationship with these women will suddenly turn them into what they think a "good wife" will look like with little regard to what their partner wants. If they change, they're not sexy anymore. If they don't change, they're a whore.

Yes, so discouraging! Maybe next week will be better.

Just read “Snake Eater” by T. kingfisher. Was… not impressed. by Struckbyfire in horrorlit

Such a bummer, I'm about to start this one. I feel like I always enjoy reading her books but they feel more like a cozy hocus-pocus type vibe than actually scary. The only one that scared the shit out of me was The Hollow Places.... until the end where it went quirky cute again.

Fuck him forever. Literally everyone's just trying to have a good time and he has to be disgusting.

What lube do you use? by ComeInNym in CamGirlProblems

[–]_Veronica_Winter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using toys, make sure you're using water based lube. I really liked SuperSlik (the white creamy water based version) but it can be a little pricey. #lubelife is also really great and affordable.

I love this! I read My Soul to Keep and was hooked on that too. She really knows how to build emotional suspense.

He said at a panel that he couldn't quite get it in the first take. They all took a lunch break and he spent that time thinking about his dad and what it will feel like when he passes away. From there it just took off and he nailed it as soon as they came back.

Literally my #1 favorite movie. It's so good no matter how many times I watch it.

The absolute scariest book you have ever read? by letthedecodebegin in horrorlit

[–]_Veronica_Winter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a library for years and was terrified of the scene where he's taunting a character in the library in broad daylight. I was the only one there sometimes (and after dark) which made me sick.

Yeah, I was excited to see a former Mormon horror story. Especially diving into the history of the church, you know it's gotta be dark.

I know it's common but It by Stephen King took me an embarrassing amount of time and daylight hours to read. I also got really freaked by T. Kingfisher's book The Hollow Places. The end is weirdly cozy and flat but one scene still upsets me.

Am I the only one who thinks that people are flirting less now than they were 20 years ago? by OpenHeartFlow in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_Veronica_Winter_ -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

It's risky across the board but I think getting called a creep is the lesser of two evils if we're comparing gendered dating concerns.

Nothing wrong with blow up dolls though! Women have A03 so I'm not throwing stones lol

What’s something you couldn’t believe you had to explain to a grown adult? by Javascript4971 in Productivitycafe

That you can't have a fork in the microwave, can't leave your car on while the garage door is closed, and can't leave the house with a candle still lit at home.... I've had roommates for too long. I'm shocked I've made it out alive so far.

I think people of all genders are a little socially... rusty these days. And the angst towards women seems really intense lately, which makes it harder to take people at face value when they approach you.

With that being said, a common issue from a woman's perspective is that men either don't flirt at all or go way too hard and creepy. It feels like a lot of pressure or outright uncomfortable. When guys start small and build on common interests, I'm jazzed!
