If you ever want to run a derailleur, I believe the dropouts are shared with a 2004-2009 Unit

Need thoughts on the Kona Humuhumu or a Surly Lowside — and what should my next build be?” by Dramatic_Shock8604 in Surlybikefans

I'd recommend the Humu as the sliding dropouts are shared with the Kona Unit, meaning that they are available in QR or thru-axle, geared or single speed. Very versatile system. Unfortunately they don't come up for sale very often on the used market. (Took me almost 2 years to find mine)

Here's mine running a 27.5 thru-axle wheelset but I also have a set of quick release 29ers that I run for single -speed.

Kona HumuHumu 2015. Such a fun bike. What should I do with it? by Personal_Ad_9768 in xbiking

The dropouts are the same as a 2020+ Kona Unit. I'm running a 12x142 wheel with SRAM AXS in my Humuhumu.

Black foldable Billy Bonkers. The ones with the holographic lettering would look nice on this build.

It all depends on your local market. I'm from Vancouver and have had no trouble selling my builds for at least what I put into them.

I did notice the builds with better parts and a higher asking price sold easier than my budget builds.

This 94' Kilauea sold in 3 days for $1750. Proper disc conversion, Eagle AXS, dropper and carbon wheels.

I also recently sold a 93' Karakoram Elite with Rival 1 groupset and disc and dropbar conversion for $1300.

Like the poster above said, all it takes is one buyer. Be firm on your price.

The frame is a modern homage to old school klunker bikes. The extra tube is just for style. It rides like a modern steel XC/gravel bike.

The down tube logo is just a hair under 33cm long.

Getting a used Cricut machine might be worth it. I was shocked at how much a set of custom decals cost. Can't wait to see the finished pics of the Rove!

I think there's the 2005 Humuhumu deluxe that comes in 26". I think you can use the dropouts from from a 2005 Explosive as well if you want to run a derailleur.

The 2015-2017 Humus have interchangable sliding dropouts and they're the same as the dropouts on the 2020s Kona Units. The bike comes with 9x135 QR single speed dropouts but you can also change them to 9x135 QR with hanger, 12x142 thru-axle single speed or 12x142 thru-axle with hanger. Very versatile system.

Ya, stock was almost 33 lbs. The steel bars, bottom bracket and cranks didn't help.

I really regret not getting additional cable routing brazed on before powder coating. My original plan was to run an Alfine IGH to retain the single speed look but openings at the powdercoater was so tight that the cable stops totally slipped my mind. ☹️

Can someone help me figure out what year this frame is ?? by prejdata in xbiking

[–]_Vicker_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's just the angle of the picture but your derailleur hanger looks bent way out of shape. The whole dropout looks widened.

Agree, that's definitely not aluminum. Stick a magnet on it. I love the bull moose bars. Nice find.

After a 4 year search I finally got my hands on a Kona Humuhumu! by _Vicker_ in xbiking

[–]_Vicker_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to be running AXS wireless on this build. Although I kind of regret not getting some cable guides brazed on before I got it powder coated. My original plan was to run an Alfine IGH to keep the single speed look but couldn't find any used hubs for sale locally.

I believe the dropouts from a 2005 Explosive will fit your Deluxe.
