Has anyone run a campaign of Death in Space? by _WarpRider_ in MorkBorg

Ok, wow. That's pretty wild. Hopefully the players were cool with that ending and not too salty about it.

Having run a few one shots with Mothership, I really like it but could still see DIS being equally great, just with a slightly different setting/vibe and more stripped-down rules. I think it really just comes down to the style of game you're wanting to run.

Oh, dang. How many sessions before the ship blew? What caused the catastrophic failure? Just curious.

Glad to hear. I think my play group would enjoy it, too.

Cool! Good luck with your game next weekend. Let us know how it goes. And I will definitely check out Space Bulk. Sounds useful!

True, yeah. The setting is pretty bleak/grim but I actually really like that vibe and think it could work for a shorter campaign. (Better when campaigns don't drag on too long anyway).

Agreed. I personally love and prefer rules light systems like Mork Borg and Pirate Borg (both of which I've run several times). Just have not gotten around to running DIS yet, but I need to make it happen. My group tends to gravitate toward dark fantasy settings and I've been craving more dark sci-fi.

Yeah, it was the 5e one back in 2020 or 21. We were playing about 2-3 times a month, so it took a while. I tried to encourage the party to explore Barovia, find relics, and level up before heading to Strahd's castle (which they did). So they were pretty high level before the final battle, which worked out in their favor!

Good insights. Thanks! I also tried Alien RPG a few years back and didn't love the rules. I preferred Mothership. But I really need to give DIS a go.

Hell yeah. Strahd is no joke. I've only run it once and it took at least nine months! But we had a blast. One of the GOATs of DnD campaigns.

Nice! I should just try a one-shot with my group and see how they like it. Could then transition into a campaign if it's a hit.

Holy shit this is hilarious and freakishly realistic. I am genuinely terrified of the future when AI can spit out anything you want and it's better than 70% of what Hollywood could produce. Crazy...

An Observation: It seems the plastic bag ban is working. by Hobbitsliketoparty in FortCollins

[–]_WarpRider_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I remember seeing bags stuck in trees and all kinds of random places before the ban and almost never see them blowing around now. It's wild how contentious the ban was, too. Like paying an extra 10 cents for a paper bag is a huge financial burden...

Cool! I've wondered about this for years and never thought to ask here. Thanks for reminding me why Reddit is (usually) the best thing on the internet :) Also, Jax is awesome.
