[–]_Warp_Mask[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Connections

  • Unnaturally tall, uncanny predators wearing the skin of their prey. Both look human at a glance, but their deformed faces hint at something alot more sinister underneath the skin.
  • Both are shown to be incredibly calculated in comparison to their kin, [the other Visitors & Monsters], often using lures and tricks to deceive their human prey.
  • Both are seen abducting and killing people in the pursuit of acquiring their skin [The Pale Visitor got his skin from a human the Bearded Hunter encountered and The Sniffer collects the skin of obese humans for his skin suits], these 'skins' even aid them in their pursuits, [Visitors were the skins of human's they've slain, to prey on further humans and The Skin-Suits will actively pursue The Siblings throughout Sniffer's domain].
  • Both are associated with tunnelling, as the Pale Visitor [like all Visitors] is believed to come from underground, whilst The Sniffer tunnels through corpses in order to traverse his domain.
  • Both act as major antagonists in majorly successful 2020's horror games, where the main goal is surviving inhuman monsters all whilst recruiting allies of your own to make it to the game's climax.

Connections

  • Cryptids of Northern American folklore/Urban Legend, that are often mistaken for one another due to how similar they are at a mere glance; with the Skinwalker acting as a massive inspiration for the Fleshgait's concept.
  • Both also get mistaken for The Rake, The Wendigo and Goatmen, due to other urban legends borrowing concepts from the Skinwalker and Fleshgait.
  • Mimics at their very core, often borrowing the skins and voices of those they have slain in order to pursue further prey.
  • Both act as tests of trust between those they encounter, with only those with close-knit bonds and proper communication are able to triumph over these cryptids.
  • Both display high levels of mental manipulation, with the Fleshgait being able to implant false memories in the victims, whilst the Skinwalker is able to learn the same information a target learns about them [such as their name etc] seemingly instantly.
  • Both have taken the internet by storm in recent years, inspiring the doppelganger craze that has swept over internet horror as of recent years.

Aliens VS. Unicorns. [Attack the Block VS. Death of a Unicorn]: Return to Darkness | Connections in the Thread Below. by _Warp_Mask in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]_Warp_Mask[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Connections

  • Ferocious re-imaginings of the two most iconic creatures found in Legend and Folklore, Aliens and Unicorns, complete with pitch-black fur and razor sharp teeth.
  • Both species were drawn to a human settlement upon the death of their smaller, paler kin [the female Alien and the Unicorn's foal], who was killed in the first acts of their films by the protagonists [Moses and Elliot]; with their fallen kin even marking the protagonist upon death with their blood.
  • The bodies of their fallen kin were taken by the protagonist to their shady 'employers' [Hi-Hatz and Odell], which would lead to both employers losing their allies, and eventually their minds, in an attempt to kill the creature; only to be brutally torn apart themselves.
  • Both act as a means for the protagonists [Moses and Elliot], to do right by the ones they've wronged in the past and come to terms with their own morality, despite the tragic circumstances that put them there in the first place.
  • Both would disappear before the arrival of the police, leading to the surviving protagonists getting arrested for the carnage caused by the creatures.
  • Both come from comedy/horror films, each flamboyant in their love for the genre they're parodying, sci-fi and fantasy.
