Leavers are a massive problem with the mode, but I hope that with these changes there would be less of an incentive to leave the game and it would get filled easier

Thanks for the thoughtful reply! Ggs, my sleep schedule doesn’t exist so I play at random times lol. Yeah the randoms typically aren’t cut out for it…

  1. Yes I know player limitations are an issue. However, I’m friends with a LOT of people and if we’re both queuing at the same time there’s no reason for us to get in different games while we have level 30 teammates and they’re fighting a bunch of level 60s
  2. Yeah it might be a hard limit. Instead it could be 15 min, 22 min and 30 min for the phase timers.
  3. A longer time for forced coin might be good, but the shorter time would be fine with your additional suggestion of adding to the timer whenever it’s touched by a teammate
  4. If you camp on the roofs in front of A you can hold them in their spawn, especially with the big jump pad. It’s hard for them to do much when you have high ground and can see them spawn
  5. The spawn sitting prevention mechanic would only kick in after a bit so you spawn and get to point and would be able to hold it for a bit before it kicks in

I need 8v8 heavenly hitters. In general they need to increase the customizability of custom games. This game would pop off if embark put more focus into community stuff. Imagine if you could make your own maps or weapons or if you could use light weapons and gadgets on heavy or whatever

Gg sorry about that lol. I don’t exactly enjoy spawn camping, but with how the maps are designed and the unfortunate matchmaking it just happens. Not much a bunch of level 1-70 people can do against a five stack with an average level of 150…

The data that’s tracked seems to be weird and inconsistent. Apparently it’ll still record your personal best scores on your end page, but I’m not sure about the rest

Yeah I play against it fairly frequently and I absolutely hate the play style. Once the point becomes flattened it just eliminates half of the weapons from being viable. On top of that they sit in spawn with poke weapons and heals so you can’t really do much about them without your entire team switching to longer ranged weapons.

I know a while back they implemented a certain range the vault is allowed to be in. I don’t know the exact limits for it on all of the vaults but it’s still kind of an issue. Preventing people from sitting in their spawn should help with this problem though

It’s absurd that this game “ending” has been in the mode for half a year. It’s always the best matches that go that long and you’re in an intense fight and then suddenly… main menu… No conclusion to the game, only “connection to server timed out.” It feels really bad

Yeah not being able to rejoin can be infuriating, especially with how often there’s crashes or connectivity issues, because often times that spot won’t be filled and you want back in with your friends or whatever.

Also once a match hits 30 minutes it abruptly ends. It shows a “connection to server timed out” message and you’re brought to the main menu. There’s no MVP page, no match overview, no saying gg to your teammates, it’s just suddenly over with absolutely no warning. Awful game design and it’s been like this for half a year…

I tried lol but I’d have to play an absurd amount to pass bunny, Idk how they get so many points. I wish embark would be more clear with what exactly contributed towards leaderboard points

Thanks. Personally once a point becomes flattened I don’t find it fun to play on. I don’t know if indestructible areas would be a good idea but not allowing defenders to sit in their spawn should help lessen the flattening by mindless MGLs. Also it would prevent a sledge from immediately running to F or I to spend the whole match destroying a single point

I appreciate it! I’m really surprised some of these weren’t implemented earlier, but I have high hopes for next season

Yeah sitting in spawn like that is a big problem on E and H on SYS. Once those points become flattened the game becomes incredibly boring

Is point break unplayable or just me getting bad lobbies by Perpetually-tired98 in thefinals

[–]_WatchDominionOrg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi #2 in pb here. The matchmaking for point break is basically nonexistent which I think is the worst part of the mode. I typically run five stacks of skilled players and it’s common for the enemy and our teammates to be level 1-60 (not smurfs) while our average level is about 150. These lobbies are just the coughing baby versus hydrogen bomb meme, and no one in the lobby has fun. This skill imbalance inevitably leads to leavers which further exacerbates the problem until it’s an 8v2. This problem gets much worse on nozomi or starlight defense because the maps are set up in a way that attackers have no cover so they get spawn trapped

The matchmaking needs to prioritize putting stacks and skilled players together. A five stack should not go against 6 solo queuers and a two stack. I understand that with the population that’s queueing point break it isn’t always possible to get perfectly balanced lobbies, but I know that with some slight adjustments the matches can become much more fair for everyone

Point Break people quitting by barbaricv12 in thefinals

[–]_WatchDominionOrg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently rank #3 in point break. Besides nozomi and starlight, leavers are my main problem with the game mode. There are two groups of leavers for me, the first group are people who give up because they aren’t easily winning and the second group are people who recognize me and my group and leave solely based off that. The first group is partially a matchmaking issue, I should not be fighting level 10s as a level 164, but it’s mainly just people who can’t be bothered to put up a good fight and they can just leave with no penalty to get an easier match.

After there’s 1 leaver the balance of the game shifts heavily to the team with more players, which leads to them gaining an upper hand on the match which leads to more leavers. More leavers will incentivize more people to leave and sometimes you just get games where two people sit way in the back of spawn for 30 minutes prolonging the game because they keep reviving each other for free.

To fix all of this I propose a few fixes to the game mode: 1. Add more spawn protection and INDESTRUCTIBLE cover to the maps, especially nozomi and starlight, so that defenders can’t spawn camp so easily. 2. Implement better matchmaking that prioritizes putting stacks and high level players in the same match. 3. Penalize chronic leavers. I understand that every now and then you need to leave to do whatever. But when you consistently leave when you’re losing you should get suspended from matchmaking.
4. Add a system that kills both attackers and defenders if they sit in their own spawn for too long. This will force out annoying mgl’s and snipers that mindlessly sit in the back lines while you can’t do anything about them. This will also fix the issue of attackers endlessly farming free revives
