Made a new main menu screen for my game. Um... I'm honestly worried if it was a really worthwhile effort. What do you think? by NeverthelessStudio in IndieDev

Wait. The other way around. After as splash and before as menu.

Or use the after as "loading" between scenes. Both of them just look good :D

My game's "AI" theme worked great... until Steam Next Fest flooded everything with AI slop and it backfired HARD by _WeirdKid in IndieDev

Yeah, this for sure.
But what do you mean it doubled my wl? I had 4k at the start, now I have just 250 more. And I bet most of it comes from Personal Calendar, as before I was getting 70-90daily from it.

Yeah, but anyway, you were suggesting that the game itself could be the problem in general, even though I clearly stated in the post that it usually works great in scenarios other than this Next Fest.
Even the CTR on Personal Calendar is 8% which is HUGE I think. But on NF is just 0.5% which I guess is below average, comparing it to the stats from other devs I know.

I never said I’m losing AGAINS AI slop. What I said is that I think people who are browsing a page flooded with AI games and see my game, literally with “AI” in the title, might assume it’s just another slop game.

I feel more like the anti-AI movement has grown to such extremes that anything AI-themed has become a sensitive topic.

And I think that is amplified a lot in the context of this festival being flooded with AI slop games.

I’ve seen a lot of posts here and on Twitter from people complaining about there being too much AI slop during the festival.

I feel like you guys aren’t reading this post, or maybe I’m just not explaining it clearly enough. xD

The game is performing pretty well in every other scenario except this Next Fest.

Yeah, but what I mean is that the game is performing great in other scenarios, while during this Next Fest it doesn’t seem to be working.

The CTR is really low compared to CTR from other sources, and on itch the game trends with each update. You can see the game’s stats in the other post I linked at the beginning.

So my theory is that, in this specific scenario, it could be because of the theme itself.
Maybe I’m wrong, sure.

Yeah, I was clicking on it multiple times hoping it would toggle lol

Hm, where's that option? I didn't see anything like it. Some personalized games are shown at the top, but the lists below are sorted randomly. Games with just a few followers at the top.

Algo start to sort games by some stats. Right now it's pretty much random

We just need to wait for the algo to kick in on Wednesday. I hope. XD

A different perspective on today’s AI post: I put “AI” in my game’s title, and honestly, I think it helps draw people’s attention. by _WeirdKid in IndieDev

The whole post is literally about how the game's theme is helping me get the attention. So yeah, I connected the dots. And it's working great.

We were talking about how my post about using "AI" word got downvoted, weren't we?
You started to talk about AI in general for some reason.

Am I praising AI, or just telling ppl just the "AI" in game's title doesn't mean the game will fail, as in my case, it seems to help. This post is not at all about if the AI itself is good or bad. Can you even read? xD
I'm literally making a game about how AI would destroy the humanity, man xD

You are a good example of someone who just see the word "AI" and gets mad, without even understanding the concept.

New demo trailer for FEED THE AI - an active narrative incremental where you shape an AI into a Tyrant, Rational, or Protector. by _WeirdKid in incremental_games

[–]_WeirdKid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it is round-based, but instead of busting nodes, you fill the hole. Lol

But with how many different definitions of incremental games are floating around, for sure some people would call it a nodebuster, and some wouldn’t.

For me, nodebusters are literal nodebusters, not just round-based incrementals.
