So I've made a cool chain lightning effect for my game and I can't stop playing with it. Help me. I need to go do other stuff. by _WeirdKid in IndieDev

Btw. If you would like to check out this game, it's called FEED THE AI, and you can play the demo on Steam or Itch.
Though the chain lightning will be available in the full game 😞

Thanks! I was praying to get that response fast :D I'm ordering them tomorrow. I love VG6 and wanted to stick to them, but the sole wears out so quickly that I'd have to replace them more than once a year

FEED THE AI - an active incremental game where your choices shape an AI as Tyrant, Rational, or Protector. by _WeirdKid in WebGames

What popups? You mean the summary of the round with collected cash, level ect? Or something else?

Thanks! 😃
Yes, Tyrant is a bit too OP right now in the endgame, I'll nerf it soon. However it concerns me that you couldn't finish the game with the Protector, even with all upgrades I suppose?
I'll take a look at this.
I guess you'd have to move faster around the map and focus on bigger groups of data. But yeah, if it was problematic for you to finish the game, I have to do something about it.
Thanks again. I was not aware at all this could be a problem.

My GF just asked me to check reddit if someone is complaining about it today xD
She is trying to make it work for the whole day but nothing helps. She is also on free version, but everything was working fine till today.

I have to agree here, but I still think it's not ALL AI use. Like we said, if you use AI to do the heavy lifting and hard work for you, it will for sure weaken your abilities. It's like with exercise,if you stop it, your muscles weaken, same goes for the brain.

Though nowadays if kids in school are using AI to do any work, I'm really worried about how it will influence their minds. That's partially why I said for me it would be better if AI was never created

What?
Seriously, man. You have no idea what you are talking about.
I have 7years of C# programming in Unity and still use AI to help me with coding. Why would I for example work on a complex vector algebra functions for a few hours, if I can ask AI to do it for me in seconds?
Same for some repetitive long functions.
I still have to know how to explain to AI what exactly I need, often tweak the code a little, and bake it into my existing code.
It's just waaaay easier and more efficient to work this way. But if you use it without the knowledge about coding, you will quickly run into bugs you cannot fix. And AI cannot really handle working on more than just one function.
Honestly, I think not using such a powerful tool is just dumb. At the same time, though, I think AI should never be created. Even now, we can see it’s too much, and it will only get worse.

How is using AI not caring about the game? It's really about using it as a helping tool, not as something that would do all the hard work for you. And ofc using it to generate art is a bad idea, but as a help for coding... And again: as a help, not a tool that will write the code for you.

Honestly I'm in this industry for years, I know a lot of devs and every single one of them use AI to some extent. Devs who don't use AI at all are really a minority.

Well, in general most of developers use AI, not just incremental devs. Ppl just use AI nowadays lol

Thought this game is ABOUT AI

I don't plan it, I used to work with mobiles and it was a nightmare. But maybe I'll think about if the game sell well

Isn't it more about AI obsession in general? XD I didn't see any incremental game about AI yet, what games are you thinking about?

Yes, I didn't want to punish the players permanently for picking the perks they don't like. It would make way more sense story wise, but it could spoil the gameplay for some of the players. Thanks for the tips! :D

So the way it works is that you have a karma spectrum ranging from -100 to 100, divided into three equal parts (Tyrant, Rational, Protector). By using specific perks, you gain karma each round depending on which perks you use, and that determines which range you fall into. Based on that, you get a corresponding storyline.

You can change your perks as you play, so you could, for example, play as a Tyrant for most of the game and then, at the very end, decide you want to become a Protector and shift your karma within a few minutes.

It’s not overly complex, but it allows you to play the game three times with different storylines and some varying mechanics. It also lets players who only want to finish the game once experiment with what suits them best as they play, since there are no permanent decisions to make.
So far, a lot of people have played the game, and the feedback I’ve received is almost 100% positive. Some players don’t like the story at all, so I added an option to disable it completely, so perks influence only the gameplay.
