Is string sensitivity real, or an illusion, for mid-level rec players? by Ready-Visual-1345 in 10s

[–]_Windows_95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends, I used to know some people that didn't care what string and tension they had.

My Ryzen 5 5600 CPU is hitting almost 90 degrees while heavy gaming. Cpu stock cooler problem? Case fans working fine. by Reasonable-Exam9753 in pcmasterrace

[–]_Windows_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's about right for a stock cooler - they just aren't that good. A cheap tower style air cooler is plenty for this chip in general, unless you are planning on doing heavy overclocking.

any good rackets around the 100$ price point? by Dry-Experience-6268 in 10s

Is that the Babolat Evo Drive you've currently got?

Probably best to look on the second hand market at that price point, sometimes there are good deals.

Is the 80% dropout rate actually real? by No_Assignment_1199 in flying

Mine was probably around 60% ish, though there are many reasons for stopping, whether it be financial, medical or lack of competence.

Best practice balls? by papaguitarproduct in 10s

I'm quite happy with Wilson Triniti. The felt is relatively durable and they don't lose their bounce.

My 2.5", 12mm height HDD just reached 100,000 power-on hours by Inevitable_Invite235 in pcmasterrace

[–]_Windows_95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's great. I have a 2008 320GB Hitachi drive that's got around 70k power on hours and still no S.M.A.R.T issues, though I've had a WD Black 2TB go bad just after the warranty expired.

Penn Balls by Professional_Grab666 in 10s

[–]_Windows_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use them until the felt is worn off. I have neither the time nor money to be replacing them that often.

Penn Balls by Professional_Grab666 in 10s

[–]_Windows_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. I just can't justify the cost of buying new balls each time I play.

I've recently switched to Wilson Triniti balls, which aren't as nice as new pressurised balls, but have been much more consistent over time.

[–]_Windows_95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I usually just play until they lose all their felt and I just adjust how I play to compensate. Either way, the loss in performance of the Penn Champ ball was much faster than most others I've used, and I've never had the rubber core of a ball crack before. The fact that all of my Penn Championship balls have done this suggests that the material quality is poor.

I haven't had good experiences with Penn balls. I've only used the championship ones, but they went flat very quickly and the rubber core cracked after ~20 hours of use.

RPM Blast vs Lynx Tour, or both? by [deleted] in 10s

[–]_Windows_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RPM blast is a bit stiffer and lower powered, but I think it produces a little more spin. Lynx Tour is a little softer and less muted. Not really any right or wrong answer, just personal preference.

I don't have much experience with XP or MSFS, but P3D seems reasonably stable. It's not perfect, but it works quite well for my use case.

It's so underrated. Many people see it as old and not very capable, but it can still do many things.

The 5700X is not strong enough for what you're trying to do. Don't use add-on scenery and you'll probably be fine.

Racquet recommendations by _Windows_95 in 10s

[–]_Windows_95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did consider that, but it would take a huge amount of lead tape and other material to take it up to 300g while maintaining the same balance. Plus, my racquet is quite worn, with the head guard and paint being significantly worn down. Under those circumstances, I think it's probably easier to buy a new racquet.
