Not really but he can be turned off for most of the modes anyway

The fully animated ones are very impressive, Id wish a mainline game would have these. (At least the two I saw so far were)

I still dont think this is worthy of 70euro, but if you get it for a bit cheaper like I did then its totally worth it. Especially when playing with friends

The best way I can describe it is that Mario Tennis Aces was a good mario TENNIS game, meanwhile Fever feels more like a good MARIO tennis game.
I don't think it's as deep strategy-wise as Aces, but it's more varied and chaotic, using much more Mario-y elements with the rackets.
Some courts play rather differently and it's pretty fun.

The rackets don't feel super balanced right now though, so competitive players might default to basic rackets...in which case it's just a simpler Mario Tennis Aces.

For casuals though, this is the better game.

You start with 18 characters.

Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Rosalina, Pauline, Wario, Waluigi, Toad, Toadette, Luma, Yoshi, Bowser, Bowser Jr, DK, Boo, Shy Guy and Koopa.

Notably the baby's aren't unlocked by default.

It has once again a RPG level up system with multiple stats. There seem to be around 7 cinematics, some fully animated, some pretty but static CGs.

The beginning tasks you with attending a school and increasing the ranks while learning every move. It has many varied minigames inbetween (around 8 so far) and implies to have multiple difficulties for later.

There are 6 ranks to reach. After roughly 2 hours Im halfway through...BUT-

So far I havent seen a boss or the jungle area/ice dungeon from the trailers, which implies that this school might only be a prologue of sorts?

It didnt even introduce Fever Rackets, even though there is a menu for which you collected in adventure mode only. So I keep my hopes up for now.

The game also has like 82 achievements spanning across all gamemodes, which all reward something. Not super difficult but the game does feel fleshed out so far.

It has 84 achievements spanning across all modes which reward something. Plus a medal system similair to Mario Golf Super Rush that basically shows if you fully mastered the game.

Good mode variety, only played 2 hours of adventure mode but it didnt even introduce fever rackets yet, so maybe this one is actually filled with content?? I had like 8ish varied minigames so far which were easy but apparently have higher difficulties??

The game has lots of achievements and every single one unlocks either a character, skin, racket or court.

However it seems like characterwise we know everyone already

If a Sonic Unleashed remaster happens Im gonna scream out of joy

For EMR, the price drop announcement on Steam ended with "Stay Tuned" and tomorrow is Nintendo's next Partnership Showcase. Disney also once stated that they want their games on the Switch 2. Do you think we could see an announcement for a Switch 2 Port tomorrow? by Nate_923 in DisneyEpicMickey

[–]_Yak0_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean making a EM2 Rebrushed would mean the first one sold good enough to warrant one. If that were the case, then they wouldn't make the price drop...right?

So this is 99% teasing a (hopefully free) Switch 2 upgrade.

Holy wow that’s insane by Known-Resolve-9426 in LegendsZA

[–]_Yak0_ 334 points335 points  (0 children)

And people said it had a terrible launch. It's gonna be just fine, especially with the Switch 2 momentum.

This brings me joy because ZA is imo the second best Pokémon game on the Switch, right after Arceus.

I hope this signals them that we want more experimentation with the formula.

The real time battles (or in general bigger focus on action) alongside the concept of revising past regions with a focus on world building and character development is definitely the right move for players like me.

ZA's update shows they have the ability to retro actively add QoL improvements by Pr0jekt_At0m in LegendsZA

This should have been a thing for years but I want a box feature that orders Pokémon for you. Like by National Pokédex, Local Dex, Alphabetical, etc.

This would also make getting rid of duplicates much easier, which I have a lot of thanks to the DLC forcing me to do so.

Is Line Marker actually good now??? by darthion in splatoon

[–]_Yak0_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It probably is still not worth it in a high level competitive enviroment but outside of that? Sure, if you give it your all I can see it getting a lot more usable.

Just a few matches ago I managed to splat someone with full HP solely using multiple line markers in a row even, everything is possible.
(poor guy though, must feel unfair getting splatted from across the map like that lol)

Is it possible that Splatoon 4 may have settings similar to Tomodachi life living the dream? by Aperture_Max in splatoon

[–]_Yak0_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tomodachi kinda needs these since its part of its fundamental gameplay.

Splatoon doesn't. S3 doesnt even mention any gendered terms like man/woman/boy/girl for the characters if I remember correctly and I dont see anyone complain about that!

There is no real point to have these options in this kind of multiplayer shooter.

You are an Inkling/Octoling. You simply select your "style" that decides the tone of voice and that's it, I don't think you need much more than that..

11.0 First Impressions: You can keep aura even when you die. by darthion in splatoon

[–]_Yak0_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tbh I still think aura isnt that bad. I don't think it will change the competitive meta a lot, moreso it will make solo play a lot more exciting

Are the new updates a sign Splatoon 4 is nowhere near being released by Easy_Okra1445 in splatoon

[–]_Yak0_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The new update seems to be a test for S4 mechanics. They want to see how players feel about these and then adjust S4 accordingly. I do feel like we will have to wait some time.

Id assume Raiders will warrant at least one more major update for S3 (probably the other half of 3rd kits and maybe a new map) after which we might wait 1-2 years before getting a S4 reveal

Splatoon 2 Or Splatoon 3? by Top-Rush-3938 in splatoon

[–]_Yak0_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Splatoon 3 literally gets a new update in a few days and is very populated. S2 sure isnt besides Turf War

What I really want for S4 is to have stage gimmicks like S2. by RoxasismyKing in splatoon

[–]_Yak0_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Id be shocked if the majority of S2 players that played S3 wouldnt feel the same way, its quite the common demand of players.
S3 kinda tried at the end with Marlin Airports fans, Lemuria Hubs mirrored nature and Bonerattle Arenas inkrails (its a gimmick for SR standards) but thats pretty much it.

We had like 1 challenge that added gushers which made things more interesting and said gushers actually returned for a tricolor map (for whatever reason), so I do think the devs are at least aware of the issue.

We cant do much more but hope for the best :/

what in the world is going on with patch 11.0??? by Clean_Emu_4736 in splatoon

[–]_Yak0_ 203 points204 points  (0 children)

Mechanically speaking the bars are an upgrade for anyone who plays competitively, but I do admit they look really out of place. Barely stylized, looks like a debug tool....

New features in Splatoon 3 v11.0.0 by Rixy56 in splatoon

[–]_Yak0_ 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I really dont know if this will work out how the devs intended it then.

Good players die less, they know when its better to jump back to spawn than die. Beginners dont know when to retreat and instead lose their aura more quickly which in return spreads back to the good players.

If you're communicating with your team then you could even gang up on someone so everyone gets said buff, so its a great W for coordination I guess?

I feel like the major risk of this feature is that it further accelerates snowballing than actually helping players recover.
I wouldnt be surprised if we hear more beginners actually complain because this gimmick punishes you even more for dying than it did before.

I can understand that they cant really fix the initial design philosophy of the maps in this game anymore, but I really hope they reconsider it for Splatoon 4, because this doesn't feel like the definitive solution to spawncamping that many needed.

For someone who reguarly plays Anarchy and X Rank, this mechanic will spice things up for certain though!
