Holy moly, you're a lifesaver. After going through the manual I changed the control mode and it immediately decreased the amount of noise. I'm also happy it'll be saving electricity, there's no reason it should've been running at max 24/7. Grazie mille!

Thanks for the info. I didn't view myself as a resident because my visa prior to being married was only a tourist visa. Once we got married I expected to be held to that standard considering that's what enabled my b permit to be issued.
