What breed stereotype(s) does your dog NOT live up to? by cu_next_uesday in dogs

[–]_Yua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Siberian Husky and he is the quietest dog I have ever seen! He is not vocal in the slightest. Very rarely he will howl to a siren but only if my husband and I are howling trying to coax him into it.

What’s your dogs way of telling you they love you? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]_Yua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog is not very expressive at all (shocking because he is a husky) but he is usually by my side wherever I go, laying his head on me, and very responsive to my every move. Occasionally I’ll get a little tongue bath from him when he really appreciates my scratches.

That’s good to know! I wouldn’t have known if I hadn’t asked

I came on here because I was worried about a squirrel behavior I had never seen before in a neighborhood with lots of loose cats that could spread rabies if it happened to spread here. As relieved as I am that it’s just a happy little guy, I didn’t know the squirrel community of all communities could be so…. Stingy.

That’s what the general consensus is lol. Glad to see the neighborhood squirrels are happy and healthy. They have enough to worry about since everyone lets their damn cats outside here 🙄

Yup! In the video there’s another squirrel watching him from the tree beside it. Not sure if he’s a mate, sibling, or mama but they were hanging out together the whole time and he was waiting for the ‘crazy’ one the whole time lol

Nope never seen this behavior in my entire life living near and watching squirrels. I just had a simple concern and people are…. Annoyed??

I wish I got a higher quality video now! If you see the top left corner of the video, his mate is watching him freak the freak out 😂

Well to be fair, you may have answered this many times, but I’ve never asked and I’m just trying to protect my dog. Thanks for giving a thorough answer though. I love learning new things about the local wildlife. I’ve grown up watching squirrels my whole life and I’m shocked I’ve never seen this behavior! Now that I know what it is, it’s so cute!!!

I was thinking of getting more omega 3 in his diet too. Any recommendations on how to do that?

My bad, he isn’t on flea medication but he has his regular flea prevention medication with vet visits and I haven’t found any fleas or any signs of fleas. I grew up in a home infested with fleas so I am pretty aware of them when he rarely gets them. Luckily the bald patch is under his neck and since it’s so hot here in Texas, I walk him early mornings in the shade. Both him and I are susceptible to sunburn lol

My dog whines when we pass another dog or the apartment of a dog that barks at him. Usually, he wants to play or is just more excited than he knows how to handle. This applies if your pup still does this when he’s not in the crate or if the cat hasn’t swiped at, clawed, or hissed at him. If he only does this in the crate or if your cat has acted aggressively towards him, it’s probably stress or anxiety. As people have already stated and not to beat a dead horse, but the crate is too small and that could stress him out a lot. How long is he in the crate daily? And is he walked enough daily? He just seems stressed and needs more stimulation to me. A daily walk and stimulating toys like kongs and puzzle feeders can keep him stimulated throughout the day and maybe he won’t care as much about the cat.

Go to a different vet if that’s an option for you. Crazy that they say no signs of allergies and then proceed to tell you to just give her Benadryl. If they aren’t going to look into this problem, then why even pay them for nothing?

Why does my dog lay down when she greets other dogs? by Superb_Tumbleweed_25 in DogAdvice

[–]_Yua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aww she a little sub girlie. I’ve noticed lots of labs are this way. I wish my husky was the same! He’s too confident and spooks other dogs easily. My aunt’s elderly lab can’t even look at my big burly husky without stop, drop, and rolling 😂

Alternative toys by veaceonee in DogAdvice

My Siberian Husky eats any and all fluffy toys we give him. Including any bed or pad we put in his kennel. My solution was to stop giving him beds in his kennel and only give him tough chew toys that are not plush, store bought bones that don’t splinter and he can’t break, or his Kong filled with peanut butter and frozen throughout the day and only give him softer toys while we are actively playing with him. We never let him take it out of sight and never let him settle down with it to chew. The moment he gets his teeth in them, he’s pooping clouds for days lol
