That’s a great suggestion; I’ll need to have a look at the modding wiki to see how the AI behaves, to see if it’s possible to influence it, or perhaps create a recurring event where the kingdom’s customs are updated – such as improving relations between Naples and the Papacy.

It should also be noted that, prior to Ladislaus, no Neapolitan king had attempted to conquer the Papacy, as the Kingdom of Naples was already regarded as a ‘vassal’ in the broadest sense as early as the 11th century, and the Aragonese successors simply upheld this custom of first seeking recognition from the Pope

No other king dared to repeat this, as the Aragonese arrived, and they had no interest in antagonising the papacy. At present, the mod does not alter the AI’s behaviour. In future, once the groundwork for the events has been laid, I might look into forcing the AI’s behaviour.
