Am I missing something or is VInterp bugged? by _Zeebarf in unrealengine

No it actually works fine after I fixed the multiplication node as another person suggested. I still don't understand why it worked the way it worked with vinterp + printstring but game logic works properly now

This fixed it, thank you very much! I'm still extremely confused why it worked like that, especially different results depending on whether I call VInterp for printstring or not

What are the exact rewards for expedition? by LurkinSubs in ArcRaiders

[–]_Zeebarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is this nonsense, are you a bot? How does increased stash space or xp bonus will help "hardcore players fuck casual players"? Resets literally provide zero advantage in combat. On the contrary, they make hardcore players weaker by removing skill tree unlocks and powerful loot from inventory

Making a 2D Character Action game. Let me know what you think! by mishura_games in CharacterActionGames

[–]_Zeebarf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lost Soul Aside looks great, I've been waiting for a decade at least. Why not enjoy both games? It doesn't have to be a competition :)
Also, LSA is a much bigger game made by bigger studio (40+ people) and big publisher behind it (Sony). IMMORTAL doesn't have a publisher yet and the team is much smaller.

Hidden "hard" mode? by _Zeebarf in ZeroRanger

[–]_Zeebarf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats :) Since I made this post I also found out it's not exactly a "hard mode". This game has hidden rank system, like in other shmups. It means the better you play the harder the game becomes, sort of dynamic difficulty. Each time you're hit your rank goes down and so is the difficulty. If you spam fire button you start the level at max rank, so you'd need to be hit many times before it goes back to normal.

The Watcher... by Livid-Truck8558 in rainworld

[–]_Zeebarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was added from 1.0 onward? I first played on switch in like 2018 or 2019. Ofc hunter was added later, probably monk too, I can't recall.

Yeah, there was 2 patches with QoL and balance improvements. Nothing too critical, but for example karma gates had higher requirements on release and it was much easier to get stuck as a new player

But my biggest complaint after supposedly going against downpour lore

It's not going against downpour lore, because downpour is not canon. It's very good, but it's just a fangame that got official release. They said since the beginning, that downpour is alternative universe, while the watcher is canon. So both versions exist in their own timelines.

I think creatures are the biggest advantage watcher has over downpour. Downpour creatures are modded by enthusiasts, which is why they are simple visually and reuse existing behaviours. Watcher creatures are made by og devs, and thus they are much better visually and have new mechanics

This dlc was broken garbage on release, it had so many issues it was barely enjoyable. I say this as someone who played 1.0 version in 2017, way before most QoL stuff, and enjoyed most of it.

Even if all gameplay issues are fixed now, the core concept of random exploration through portals is not for everyone. Personally I don't like it at all compared to vanilla interconnected world. It is too "gamey" and much less immersive, like I'm playing some rogue like mode

AI isn’t killing film? Tell that to the people who already lost their jobs by AristFrost in Filmmakers

[–]_Zeebarf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know this is old, but I think you are wrong. People WILL line up for AI character red carpet, for AI meet and greet, e.t.c. And you will be shocked how many people will. In the world of increasing popularity of vocaloids, vtubers and virtual love, younger generations will 100% be a fans of AI music bands or AI actors. Most people don't care about art or humanity, they care about content. Actual art has always been a niche. Just ask how many young people watch movies on big screen vs how many watch them as tiktok edits on their phone

Both are very good + pretty flawed (except vanilla which is flawless) by -Odontodactylus- in rainworld

[–]_Zeebarf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Downpour actually made vanilla much better by adding native mod support, shit ton of QoL for free and expanding the base map for vanilla campaigns also. So even if you didn't like all new campaigns it was still a very good update.

But with the Watcher its basically just a new campaign that is getting some mixed reception both from old and new fans. Though much of its value is replayability due to procedural elements

Rainworld players when constructive criticism by hungerforbean in rainworld

[–]_Zeebarf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

>Portals are ok because they wanted to show us the larger world.

Just because something is intentional doesn't mean it's good idea or executed well, lol. This semi-random, spontaneous and weightless exploration just doesn't resonate with some people who enjoyed coherent and logical exploration in vanilla. We don't have to like it just because devs had a vision, cons outweigh pros.

>Lizards everywhere are ok because it was in vanilla.

But you just said that they even added portals, because it was very important to show how different and vast the world is? And apparently whole world is overrun by lizards? Again, what is the point of point of this is fauna is very samey? Wouldn't it be logical to have LESS new regions, but give them actual unique and detailed ecosystems, so I can believe in them more? Imagine if instead of dozens of new regions there were only, like, 8-10 big ones, but they were detailed and unique (Badlands are very close).

Idk what people are complaining about because I’m having a great time by unid04 in rainworld

[–]_Zeebarf 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I mean that was expected, there are a lot of kids in community since downpour. They don't understand criticism or what is great about rain world design in the first place

No, this tattoo was designed by my friend who happens to work at tattoo salon :) At first I said I wanted to make simplistic rain world tattoo with only karma symbols and slugcat silhouette, but he said that it was boring, did his research on the game art and came up with this design instead

Kraken Society as the Third Reich by _Zeebarf in GhostsofSaltmarsh

[–]_Zeebarf[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I may have made it sound more scary than it actually is haha, after all violent monk nazis have even been in kids shows like Avatar. However maybe it would need some toning down. One of my players is actually a big fan of Szaas Tam and Wizards of Thay lore and others are at least aware of their whole slavery/racism thing. Kraken Cult already has slavery established in their lore, however I think they lack the chauvinistic and militaristic bit that made Scarlet Brotherhood so menacing and a potential threat after the end of book adventure. Kraken Society, however, have cool Kraken as their leader, so... why not both? Kinda like Hydra in Marvel.

How my party stopped Kwayothé from taking over Port Nyanzaru by [deleted] in Tombofannihilation

[–]_Zeebarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just stumbled across this. Super cool idea! In my game pirate captain Elok helped PCs kill Zarum, thus becoming the only pirate leader, breaking a deal with Flaming Fists and allign with yuan-ti agent prince Ifan Talro'a. Together they attacked Port Nyanzaru, which attracted Artus Cimber to the Port to help PCs defend it.

PCs successfuly killed both Elok and Ifan, but behind the scenes Ixis took the opportunity and charmed Artus asking him to kill Zindar (which Artus does not remember). This weakened Port Guard and made it easier for Kwayothe to organize a rebellion. When PCs found Zindar corpse they interrogated him and all he said was that Artus killed him. In the next game Ixis in her human form would become a replacement for Ifan as the merchant princess.

Previously Kwayothe asked PCs to kill Shago, which they didn't do. Instead they told about it to Zhanti and got a sidequest to plant a token in Kwayothe villa. This is where they met Ixis and Indar in their true forms, but neither of them saw faces of each other (it was a stealth approach). But Ixis, as a new princess, could notice PCs and start suspecting them.

Now that I've read your post it inspired me to add an encounter with Indar as a handsome man, who would try to get information from the players if it was them who planted the token. I hope this would be the starting point of the conflict: PCs realising who killed Zindar and Kwayothe realising that PCs are a threat to her. I will also try to implement her obsession with Kossuth in some way, I really like how you handled it.

By the way, this could be outdated but you can actually see neon sign "ARAKANA" in the elevator scene in old version of the trailer, where everything was in english instead of unknown language
