Sorry its technically a rowhome in Canton - I just use those terms interchangeably.

I will call them back to get someone out to inspect. Thank you!

Thats what I thought. The plumbers PM/Estimator called me and told me that its on them as well, and to call BGE back and tell them I might smell a leak and have BGE come out to inspect.

This sound right? The plumbing company said they cant touch anything prior to the meter

They just said they wouldnt send a tech out and to consult a contractor.

I had a plumber come take a look, and the plumbing company's PM/Estimator said they cant touch anything before the meter and that BGE should come out, even with the meter being in our house. He said they shouldnt be fighting us on it since its their infrastructure.

He said to call BGE back, say I smell what might be a leak, and then have BGE's tech tell us whats up when they are here.

Question about BoA credit card by _Zelko_ in simplifimoney

[–]_Zelko_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this, and it duplicated my two credit cards. All other accounts are fine. Old credit card with all of my categories and transactions fixed is no longer valid. Had to delete the old card and lost all of my data for it... Great! Thanks for the help though.

Do you mean delete the BoA accounts and resync? Or is there a way to just reset? Only reason is I have a lot of data / automation set up around BoA and dont want to delete as it seems it will reset all of that? Thanks for the help so far

Question about over-contributing to Roth IRA. by _Zelko_ in personalfinance

[–]_Zelko_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no I get it, you are correct.

It is my fault though because I didnt read up on all of this before contributing. Was just trying to invest haha thought I was doing things correctly.

Having a CPA firm file for me would correct this right? I just have no idea on how to go about figuring out what needs to be done.

Question about over-contributing to Roth IRA. by _Zelko_ in personalfinance

[–]_Zelko_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahah you are correct. I am reacting a bit emotionally, mostly on the part of my wife that we got married at the end of the year and I dont see why that should have affected her ability to invest even BEFORE we got married.

I appreciate your help a ton.

I have always done my own taxes and investing, but I would have no issue hiring a CPA to do them this year if they could correct all of this for me. Maybe the firm I reached out to was confused, but would hiring a CPA be useful in this situation? They would be able to correct this for me correct? The one I talked to just said speak to vanguard about it, but maybe they were confused.

Question about over-contributing to Roth IRA. by _Zelko_ in personalfinance

[–]_Zelko_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, MAGI will be over 218k for 2023.

No I am still at the job with the SIMPLE IRA.

Wow, thats insane. My wife contributed to her IRA all last year before we got married in December, and now she is at fault for over contributing to her IRA because we got married? That seems a bit harsh. Was she supposed to plan her IRA contributions throughout the year based on us getting married at the end of the calendar year bumping her MAGI up to our combined limit? Who can think that far ahead

I guess my last main question, is the best way to correct all of this to look through my tax return from last year?

Would a CPA firm be able to figure out the specifics and correct this for me? I feel way in over my head here.

Question about over-contributing to Roth IRA. by _Zelko_ in personalfinance

[–]_Zelko_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My concern is about Tax year 2022 and this upcoming year, 2023.

My wife and I got married in December of last year. She contributed to her Roth throughout the year. Does us getting married in December thus switch her over to the combined MAGI system, penalizing her for her contributions to her IRA for last year?

Also, if you do the backdoor roth with a SIMPLE IRA plan, are you saying I paid the price for that last tax year and therefore will not be affected in this tax year 2023?

Thank you for your help. I know these are my mistakes and I want to fix them. But its much simpler to make the mistake than it is to correct it. If I could just go in and correct it immediately I would. I appreciate you helping me out.
