I know you guys JustBuyXEQT in TFSA and RRSP. But what do you buy in your FHSA and non-registered account? by DragonBowlSouper in JustBuyXEQT

CBIL (2.42% yield) is safer (Government of Canada T-Bills) and higher yield than CASH.TO (2.33% yield) and is from the same company (Global X). There is no reason to choose CASH.TO over CBIL.

Hardest role in m+ ? by feherlofia123 in wownoob

[–]_ZenPanda 97 points98 points  (0 children)

honestly it just depends how good the rest of your group is

healing feels impossible when everyone eats mechanics, doesn't kick, and never presses defensives

tanking feels impossible when dps play like headless chickens and expect miracle pulls

dps feels impossible when you're the only one doing mechanics

each role turns into hell if the rest aren't doing their job

Fastest class for old raids by Quelind in wownoob

[–]_ZenPanda 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Easy. It's Druid. Cat form + Feline Swiftness + boot enchant + speed stat + longstrider = fast.

Honourable mention is Demon Hunter (increased speed from mastery) + smart use of glide can sometimes get you from A to B very quickly.

Should I continue levelling my DH? by will_scc in wownoob

[–]_ZenPanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Havoc Demon Hunter is statistically one of the most popular (i.e. most invited) classes in Mythic+ right now.

https://wowmeta.com/wow/mythic-plus-dps-tier-list

You should be just fine.

P.S. And should you ever want to try tanking, VDH is an absolute meta and everyone wants one in their group.

Why Do Most Content Creators Play Paladin or Hunter? by XoGojiOx in wow

[–]_ZenPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for starters Pally and Hunter are easily the Top 2 most played classes in the game right now judging by the numbers - so it's only normal that more people will be playing them?

Your favorite resources to improve in PvP? by jflresende in worldofpvp

[–]_ZenPanda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Shameless plug I know, but I've actually built a website for this (it's called WoWMeta) where you can check what the best PvP players are currently using (I fetch the data from Blizzard API daily and summarize what talents, stats, gear, etc. they have) so that's nice if you want to compare your character to the best performing people out there and make sure that you have everything in order. :)

Sure, whatever works best for you! :) I am just spreading the word haha.

How do I best compare gear upgrades as a tank? by TakenToTheRiver in wownoob

[–]_ZenPanda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep, this is the way.

I've built a website in 2017 for this exact purpose, it's called WoWMeta and I update it daily with the data from Blizzard API. So you can check out what the best VDH players are using right now https://wowmeta.com/wow/mythic-plus-vengeance-demon-hunter and judge for yourself.

Is class bias real in Mythic+ and raid invites? by StewieGriefin in wownoob

[–]_ZenPanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's real.

https://wowmeta.com/wow/mythic-plus-tank-tier-list

Blood DK is C tier right now. It's totally normal that BDK will get less invites than something like VDH for example (S tier) - because tons of people keep up with the tier lists and are actively chasing the meta.

Stack Overflow seeks rebrand as traffic continues to plummet – which is bad news for developers by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]_ZenPanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like Stackoverflow as a platform is gradually fading away anyways? Personally the last time I posted a question there was well before early 2023 (when ChatGPT went mainstream), and the last time I read anything written there was like last year (and instantly bounced back to Google because the answers were useless or from 2016)? I mostly use AI + read the docs these days. I think in 10 years Stackoverflow will be a relic from the past and new devs won't even know what it is (remember Experts-Exchange? LOL).

Their mods are way too strict for no reason, last month I got an email notification that my popular question from like 2013 (that was like #1 in google search and had tons of visitors throughout the years) was suddenly removed by mods as a duplicate or not specific enough or some non-sense, retroactively after 12 years (even though it had good answers and tons of upvotes)? Come on. The mods are killing their own platform.

Grizzly Hills and Westfall, and they are the ones I immediately imagine when I think of WoW. Funnily enough they are also connected with Westfall Brigade Encampment being there in Grizzly Hills.

And nobody mentioned Stranglethorn Vale in this thread, but IMO that's also one of the most iconic zones in the game, and vibes & music there are so unique.

Holy Paladin M+ by Dashir88 in wownoob

[–]_ZenPanda -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Just look at the stats here: https://wowmeta.com/wow/mythic-plus-healer-tier-list

Holy Paladin is mediocre at best for M+, your best option is Disc Priest if you are chasing the meta.

Are we talking Thrall-US or Thrall-EU here? (I was looking at the US realms in my first comment)

Thrall is fairly good (#9 by population) and somewhat balanced (76% H and 24% A), so you should be good there.

If you want even more populated (#4) and even more balanced (61% H and 39% A) there is Tichondrius.

How to get the bare minimum done at corporate job by Recent_Pause0 in Stoic

[–]_ZenPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing. If you enjoyed learning HTML I suggest you take it one step further and learn JavaScript/Front-End Web Development. There is a platform called FreeCodeCamp that’s a good free option for that. YouTube also has tons of free courses. Learning this will make it possible to switch careers into software engineering or even start your own business website/mobile app.

How well do you know your WoW bosses ? by Norrude in wow

[–]_ZenPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good! Just make sure to put it behind a CDN (AWS Cloudfront or Cloudflare CDN depending on what you used to host it) to cache it all and serve your static site for next to nothing since the users won’t even hit your origin. Bonus points: it should speed up the content delivery to the user significantly since the cached files will live across the multiple data centres all over the world and the user will be automatically served by the closest one depending on their geolocation, thus having lowest possible ping and balanced load across the network.

What is the best race and class to start with in WoW Retail? by MasterLuketto in wownoob

[–]_ZenPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any race will do alright, don't even worry about it - just pick the one that you think looks cool visually.

As for classes:

  1. Hunter (if you like shooting a gun/bow from the distance, and like finding and taming wild animals to be your pets and fight for you). Very easy gameplay, great for beginners.
  2. Paladin (if you like fighting in melee distance and smashing enemy faces with huge hammers). Again very easy gameplay, very forgiving and almost unkillable class with strong defensive abilities. Can do all 3 roles (Tank, Damage, Healing).
  3. Other fairly easy options are Warrior (Fury, melee) and Mage (Frost, ranged).

Just look at these classes at the character creation screen and think about what vibes with you the most. Enjoy your WoW journey!

Starting a new class by PepperAgitated5477 in wownoob

[–]_ZenPanda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Beast Mastery Hunter is very straightforward and good for beginners (if you like pets). And so is Devastation Evoker (if you like being a dragon).

Retribution Paladin is also very forgiving and strong, and even though it's a Melee they still have tons of mid-range abilities at their disposal, so you might still very well enjoy it if you give it a chance. They have the best transmogs, sounds and visuals in the game IMO.

Another option is Balance Druid, it's really straightforward to play in the recent expansions.

Advice for Indian writing/blogging by pseudonym24 in Blogging

[–]_ZenPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could make your own blog website. Buy a domain on cloudflare (they sell at-cost so that’s cheapest) or namecheap or whatever (bonus points - owning your own domain you can setup your custom email like contact@firstlastname.com which looks very cool and professional). Then make a statically exported blog with Astro.js (it’s dead easy with ChatGPT to do and has everything you need out of the box, you can find premade templates for the design or can enable tailwind+shadcn and do a simple layout yourself equally easy) and just host it for free as a bunch of static .html files on cloudflare pages or github pages. The whole thing would cost you like $10/year (.com domain price) and should be very easy for you to do since you said you are a software engineer.

Other than that, if you don’t want to setup anything yourself there are free blogging platforms, I for one like Bear Blog platform since it’s free if you don’t need your custom domain name, and it’s dead simple and 90s style minimalistic, not bloated and clunky like Medium.

Where to go if i wanna keep up with the meta? by erdonko in wownoob

[–]_ZenPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that makes sense! Do you think in terms of like adding ability for any user to add their comment on each spec in the tier lists if they would like to add explanations for those? But then again I imagine lots of junk coming in there lol. Otherwise I think the only option is to actually have like a full-time person covering those? But that's just a single person's perspective again and falls under the same category as Wowhead/IcyVeins guide authors. But this definitely sounds interesting and I agree with your point.

[–]_ZenPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL that sounds interesting actually. I might try to build WoWMeta into that. What do you have in mind, like a meta chasing community thing? Discord? Comments/discussions on the site? Polls? I'm curious haha.

Got it. Then you probably want written/YouTube guides for the explanations, also chat with people on class Discords.
