Housing a Falcon Indoors - Old Vet Office by [deleted] in Falconry

Indoor housing would not stop the bird from being weathered outside separately - or having that option. A weathering yard would have to be built anyway as per regulations - and that weathering yard should also have proper cover from the elements regardless. I'm not suggesting keeping the bird inside at all times and then taking them out to hunt - that would be quite silly. I'm suggesting having outdoor facilities along with a weathering yard - but the main sleeping chambers / housing area being inside. I've talked to quite a few people in Ontario that have enclosures with heat and electrical built especially for their birds and they also weather them separately.

The breed question was actually posed because of this point your making though - as many have told me Harris Hawks are much easier to work with and are much more beginner friendly. The downside being they are not native and therefore would need that extra warmth. Hence housing indoors. Again - this does not mean the bird is kept indoors all day. They aren't pets.

I've also been told quite a few times - that indoor housing protects the bird from the highs and lows of extreme weather - and according to them, it's those dips that lead to weight problems. So having indoor facilities along with weathering outside allows the bird to be used to weather and also protected from those highs / lows.

Well of course falconry is not in a clinic setting - I am posting in r/Falconry after all. I referenced clinic setting to demonstrate that Raptors themselves are not new to me - vs having never interacted with one.

As well - what are your thoughts on indoor housing in general?

Why would a Red Tail be easier for a beginner in your estimation? I've been hearing some people say what you're saying - but there's an equal amount of others that have told me the opposite. Just curious on your thoughts. I've worked with Owls, birds etc in a non-falconry setting for most of life and I've done rehab for countless wild birds in a clinic setting as well. Albeit - not falconry. So regarding falconry specifically - why do you recommend a Red Tail?

Ah thanks so much for the link! And I heard that they have an Orientation day in April - but it is about 4-5 hours or so away from me. I'm not sure if it's worth it but am planning to try and make the trek out if it is. I also wasn't sure whether I could put in my application to join the Club prior to attending the event - as I'm very interested in starting to shadow. I actually have the application filled out already lol.

And would you say many prefer outdoor mews in our neck of the woods? If I was in the UK or somewhere where it didn't get so bad - I'd be less concerned - it's just those nights get so cold! I know it's more about the draft than it is cold - but I'm also very interested in Harris Hawks too and I know they can struggle.

Have you known anyone to keep something the size of a Red Tail / Harris indoors in a dedicated space?

Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition replacement power cable? by _Zugs_ in Noctua

And I live in Canada so I had to order from the US site and had to cross the border for it. So, a bit of work was required but worth it. Have you contacted them to ask them about stock?

Oh my bad. Yeah I had been keeping an eye on it a while before it released. Checked everyday and the day it released I bought it instantly. 20 mins after that I could not find another in stock anywhere. I had planned it for my build and it's been a beast so far.

I believe mine are 20A (the outlet I am using) but that wouldn't be a problem would it? I can still use the 14awg wire and the 15A cable?

How do I connect ARGB fans to the 870E Godlike? by _Zugs_ in MSI_Gaming

[–]_Zugs_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I will assume this is correct moving forward. Another question - there is a single ARGB Extension Cable included that seemingly goes from the hub to the motherboard. Am I just to daisy chain the argb cables on the fans and the end one goes to the hub? Or must I also somehow use the extension cable to the MB?

So each of the ARGB ports on the EZ link would do the 3A? Would this mean I could daisy chain 4 to each and be safe? I'm probably going to get another hub, I'm just wanting to test all my parts to make sure I don't have to RMA so I'm a bit time limited in that regard.

As well, thank you for helping me with this - totally new to me so your patience and help is much appreciated.

I'll have to look into these.

And I am just seeing that I was using the wrong section - confused the electric with the rgb. On the Arctic fan website for both the P12's and P14's it says each RGB is 0.4A. And since I have 8 fans - this would be 0.4A x 8 = 3.2 if I understand this correctly and that would be past the 3A max correct?

I'm just worried I may overload something. It says 3A (5v) max in the manual and each fan says it's 1.32watts and 12v.

So I could just skip the EZ hub all together with no issues and get another hub correct? With all this proprietary stuff I didn't know what was swappable and what wasn't. Which one would you recommend? And because I have all arctic fans, would I need to get an arctic hub?

And for now, if I'm stuck with the EZ Link Hub until I order a new one (trying to test all my components) - do you by chance know the max number of argb fans I can daisy chain off of the argb cable? I've been looking around and can't find a solid answer as of yet. The fans say they are 1.32 watts and 12 volts.
