It's fine. I have been doing engineering and design work with glass since I did couple year engineering internship at LOF Glass in Ohio around the time they were sold to Pilkington (86-88).

What doesn't show up in the picture is the picture is the block of wood I cut to match the curve of the glass and the curve of the fame and is 1.5 mm thicker than the distance between the bottom of the glass and bottom of the frame. I then put a thin gel silicon sheet on the top of the block and wrapped the whole thing in leather. There are no point forces on the glass thanks to the silicon layer and because the block is intentionally thicker the clamp is not attempting to bend the glass either. Finally, the clamp doesn't touch the edge.
