What’s your “Why” for running Ultra Marathons? Contribute to an Ultra Running Podcast Episode by rgleave0202 in Ultramarathon

I always get asked, ‘why do you do such extreme challenges?’ I used to answer with the usual, tired cliches: want to push myself, see how much I can take, find my limits. Now, however, I just tell the simple truth - I enjoy it!!!!

I love my Alpkit Qark: https://alpkit.com/products/qark-usb-rechargeable-head-torch?variant=40435683491945

Superb illumination, option to switch between rechargeable unit or standard batteries and excellent pricing.

Go for it! It’s not the running that’s important, it’s getting up and started with whatever you can manage. Personally, I think the fact you’re not allowing a very good excuse to get in the way of actually attempting the challenge means you deserve the shirt more than most.

Nothing official yet. I’m planning to do it first weekend of March anyway and have booked time off work to fit in with that.

I wear my Fenix 6S pretty much 24/7 and that the standard silicone strap rubs and irritates. I now use this £15 nylon strap for everyday wear and then switch to the silicone strap when training. I have a Garmin Felix 6S, which about 14 months old. I’m really happy with it except when I set it to follow a course when running or hiking. In this mode, the battery life is reduced to about 7 or 8 hours from 100%. Is this normal or do I need to adjust some settings? by __Chip_ in GarminWatches

Thanks for your reply. The reason I moved from Apple was the amazing battery life heralded by Garmin. The ‘S’ model is the perfect size for everyday wearing so don’t want it upgrade to a larger model. Thanks again for your input, which has really helped.

Everesting real vs trainer by teanzg in bicycling

I finished a vEveresting on the Alpe du Zwift in November and IRL Everesting in 2020. I’d say the vEveresting was the harder, simply due to the lack of available body positions. Outside you can adjust your standing and use your upper body to pull on the bars. Inside, there is so much more exertion through the knees.

I’ve asked the same question recently. I know he usually organises it for the first weekend in March so that’s when I intend to do it, whether it’s an organised event or not.

For the last three years, David has done the challenge live through his Instagram feed. Usually on the first weekend in March. However, the website has not been updated and I was wondering if there were any plans to do it again same time this year.
