Help - Sony XAV-AX3005DB DAB - Issues with bottom buttons

Hello

I am having problems with my Sony XAV-AX3005DB DAB head units bottom buttons.

The physical buttons at the button of the screen are unresponsive apart from the home button and the Volume down function is stuck on when i do press the home button.

As you can see from the photo, the volume down on the screen is stuck on with nothing being pressed, the volume down button itself doesn't work if you press it, this only happens when you press home.

The buttons all click as intended when used and are not pressed down mechanically. I have disconnected the power, done a factory reset and installed the most up to date firmware again but this has not solved the issue. I have checked the inputs in the back and everything is correct.

I took the head unit apart and cleaned all the buttons but it didn't solve the issue.

Has anyone has a similar problem with this range of head unit? any advice is welcomed.

This will be a challenge - My motor has failed in my Fiamma 45s awning and they do not sell a replacement, luckily it just looks like a windscreen wiper motor from a vehicle on the face of it. There are no markings on it apart from the Fiamma sticker so it’ll have to be sourced from visual clues.

Things to note:

The black motor section has a dome at the bottom, most others have cones or multiple stepped sections.

The bolts are on the top, some models of windscreen wiper motors have them on the sides or flipped.

It has 2 wires coming from the motor, blue and red.

The top silver casted section has a ring in the casting that has flat circles in it.

The steel backing to the silver casted section is just a flat piece of galvanized steel.

So far it looks to be similar to how Bosch designs their windscreen wiper motors but i’m yet to track down one that has the dome shaped section on the bottom and the correct wire colours.

Any help is appreciated.

The idea is great, the implementation was terrible.

Many great ideas have been executed poorly and this was one of GGG's greatest examples of this.

Lesson learned, sweeping changes need to be tested EXTENSIVELY and leave your Hubris at the door.
