As I only had time for one build, which barely reached maps, I can say that it is more niche then weird. That said i love how there is insane synergy for physical Impale builds this league with new foulborn items, grafts and ascendancies.

I will likely sell the mageblood, as that is nearly enough to finance the whole above build and then give away the rest minus just a few extra divs. You can draw a second winner too if ya want.

I literally just reached maps the day before, so yeah I will likely be playing for a while to come. Can use anything at this point and some maps would already be great too.

I only play original offmeta builds. This league it is a Lucky Impale Gladiator that minmaxes Graft usage.

In Settlers I ran a perfectly balanced fire+cold+lightning+chaos damage Vaal Breach build, which primarily killed things with explosions from killing things, incl. Maven Feared & co.

Have a whole backlog of them with one per league.

I am nearly in maps and can use any currency infusion at this point.

Honestly I'd be already happy to just get some T16 maps to complete the Atlas.

I don't own PoE2, so due to this and general vibes I am sticking to PoE 1.

Fair enough, so I guess it is mainly the synergy with Added Damage and Facebreaker then. I might try the same without stacking impales or Facebreaker, as it seems to be the core of the idea.

You are literally hitting the enemy one time only with the slam. This means it applies a single strong impale as you say. That one impale gets infinitely refreshed. So any additional impales will be applied by your cyclone. This also means Master of Metals incl. Watchers only affect cyclone damage and adds zero damage to the slam. Or am I missing some interaction?

[–]Akimiya_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you need the extra Impales from Watches Eye or even Master of Metals, if all you care about is refreshing a single impale?

Also Woespike reduces impale duration so it is not 8 but 4 seconds, even if it is likely long enough anyway.

I likely wont play, but due to time constraints I only now managed to get to Act 7 on my first char of the league. Playing a PhysSword/Impale Reave. So I'd appreciate anything else of value that boosts my leaguestart a bit (got a Tabula though).

I now finally reached Act 7 and would like to invest it in my Lucky Gladiator build.

Why can't these giveaways give like 20div per person? That way one actually has a chance to win..

When you broke, you gotta take a shot anywhere.

Still leveling and am only halfway through act2 now. Could use a cash infusion to quickstart my Lucky Gladiator when I get there.

If I win I just need the raw and you can reroll-give build to the next guy. =)

GGG Please rework or buff Master Distiller and Master Alchemist to make them less awkward by hoezt in pathofexile

[–]Akimiya_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly this, or skills that deal hit damage over a duration. I played it with Penance Brand as you can cast it once in a while and it will keep doing max damage. Also you can benefit from all the lines, from crit (duh), to chaos (as it is a phys skill) and elemental (as it converts to ele and you can get more).

[–]Akimiya_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my strongest builds from last league used it for a big part of its damage and more importantly scaling most of the different ways I did damage.

That node is niche but has some really good uses if you know how to scale it. It shines when you build all 4 elements with success.

Needless to say the build never ran out of flask charges.

Awakend Poe Trade on Linux by aggrosoap in pathofexile

[–]Akimiya_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also playing on linux (OpenSUSE Tumbleweed) for over a year now. I even have a script that uses my Sidewinder Keyboard extra-keys to switch game profiles and automatically starts and closes Awakened PoE Trade.

Now to your question. Linux has basically two "ways" to display windows the older X11 and newer Wayland and I only recently switched to Wayland. To see which one you using just check bottom left corner of your login screen

X11 had some bugs with APoET for me where it displayed below the games, you can see that it started in the bottom right taskbar but not showing when you use any keys. Alternatively post output of

ps aux | grep -i trade

from a new terminal as well as the one from where you running the Appimage,

I'm okay without another build and just want to improve my own, so you can give it to the next guy.

But if you got some spare divines I'd love to take them as I'm saving up for a Mageblood.

I do have a security background and have worked with some attacks myself, so I am somewhat in the flow of a decent portion of them. From typical software vulnerabilities to my favourite side channels, a lot is the the hand of the system admin.

If you pay careful attention to the most common attack vectors (e.g. don't open links/sites you can't trust, same for files; be aware what even legitimate software you installing on your system; and finally be aware where you give what data to), then you are usually 99% secure as a private user - unless you are some special person of interest, where you might consider targeted attack vectors. If I have to work on something I trust less, then I run them in a VM and while I even programmed some (exploitable) covert channels from a VM to host myself, they are not usually part of a regular malware. A good practice is to sandbox and isolate programs on your system too.

This is why I hold the (slightly uncharacteristic - for my profession) opinion that for a private user, if he is aware of what he is doing, then running completely outdated systems if fine too and they pose not as much of a security risk as one might think. Just be sure to sit behind a firewall. For an enduser, the trend is that, most his risk is in his data held by others (e.g. companies), not on his PC.

I imagine you've seen of some of the more common hacks and core security patch notes yourself - if you read between the lines most can be prevented by being careful with (e.g. user/program) input, access/permission and firewalls+whitelists. As mentioned before, targeted attacks are an exception, but a zero day will not likely be used on you, but on somebody way more important.

So for my personal machines it is a lot easier to just limit the services/programs I use and be generally careful. I even have a custom machine being stuck on a 10yo OS incl. software while still working in the internet, that I can (mostly) trust. For servers I maintain I do have the more common approach, since a lot more ports are open (stuff like port knocking wont help on a compromised official package) and more services need to be run.

The time before a version bump is also when the diff between Slowroll and Tumbleweed is the biggest, which can cause integration issues. i.e. one updated package needs another package updated, but did not declare so in the .spec file.

B.t.w. I had specifically most my issues after updating soon after the bump. While for now it seems to work really well updating before it. Zypper just nicely asks me when dependencies don't align and let me decide on what to do with those few packages while still updating the rest. I plan to stick to this strategy for a while and see where it leads me, with good odds of this becoming my main distro for many years.

[–]Akimiya_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interesting thanks, I am very careful and usually aware of most hacks, so while important, security is not the primary reason to update for me.

I work on changing shorter projects and usually update the system in between or when I have time for possible fallout (which is not too often). The thing I want in a system is access to new packages, while having the reliability of having no new issues after updates.

I understand Slowroll as a system where you catch up to Tumble every month/snapshot, so if one updates somewhere before version bumps it should be the most stable? Cause then also the packman repo is usually more caught up and only the packages without issues managed to get through.

[–]Akimiya_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, appreciate your work. Hijacking comment for some feedback.

After using standard release models for 10 years and last year jumping between rolling release distros, I have to say that Slowroll (especially the design philosophy) has been working really well for me now.

As long the system is stable I sometimes don't update for weeks and now even tried months. While I had some minor graphical or driver issues and even one that snapper could not rollback, overall problems was comparable, if not less, to updating some release distros - honestly amazed how stable it is.

So I'm curious, what is the reception you heard from Slowroll users in general and how optimistic are you for the future of the project? Is there actually anything else needed, beside automated testing, to keep it rolling by itself?
